I've used this rack on several kayaking adventures and it never disappoints. The kayaks fit snugly in the cradle because I was able to fine tune each piece of the rack for the perfect fit. All the pieces are locked in using quality pins with locking clips. The whole thing is solid and I'm able to secure the kayaks to the rack so there is no movement at all during transit.
The one thing is that it doesn't come with the hitch pin. This was clearly stated on the product description so it wasn't a big deal. Plus I would recommend using a locking pin anyway. I could definitely see this thing disappearing off the back of my truck while I was out kayaking.
well built very adjustable , with rachet tie downs u can haul canoe 16' no prob with a short bed pickup...
What I do not like is that is that the picture shows that it has a 2" to 1-1/2" reducer where it goes to the goal post. On mine it has a 2" to 1-1/4" adapter, the 1-1/4" part fits into the 1-1/2" goal post. Why this is important is because now I need to buy a 2" to 1-1/4" adapter to make this work in the vertical position, something they failed to explain in the description. I was under the assumption that it was for a 2" receiver in both horizontal and verical plains.
Plus side with the adapter is that I extended it away from the truck enough to be able to open the tailgate without interferance while the rack is in the vertical position.
So I took one star away for the picture and the description on being good enough. I also took another star away because it cost me an additional $50 in parts to make it work for what I wanted it for, the vertical postion on a 2" receiver.
Otherwise it is a nice product, versatile, more useful than the rear part of the ladder rack that I had on the truck before, and stores nicely. Welds are nice and the coating seems fairly tough.
After just one use I was convinced I had made the right decision and saved a ton of cash in the process. This rack is heavy duty, easy to set up and easy to store. I can install the rack in my hitch, load the kayaks, and be on my way in about 10 minutes. It can be used on any vehicle with a 1" or 2" receiver trailer hitch. It comes with an adapter for a 1" receiver hitch. It can be configured vertically also. You can place your watersports equipment on the roof of your vehicle and in the yoke of the rack.
You will need to purchase a receiver hitch pin since that is not included. I also purchased lashing straps and a red bungee flag from Amazon.
Don't get ripped off by paying for high priced, name brand, racks. If you purchase this bed extender, you won't be disappointed.

Heavy duty construction but after installation it sat slightly crooked and was amplified by the time it reached tailgate height. Read morePublished 22 days ago by Reid

Very heavy duty. I am very glad I got this one and not one of the cheaper ones. I bought 3 treated 14 foot 4 by 6 beams and 3 14 foot 2 by 6's. The beams were VERY heavy. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Scott Bright
