My daughter and I love pizza. We eat vegetarian, so I'm always looking for interesting things to make. Cauliflower pizza crust didn't do much for us, and flour crust was getting boring. Tater tot crust was good, but not very versatile. I forget where I saw this recipe for Sushi rice crust.
2 cups cooked short grain rice
1/2 C cheese of your choice
1 egg
(Any seasonings, green onions, etc.)
We use vegan cheese and an egg white. I pressed this into my 10 inch cast iron fry pan. I've also used my 12" pizza pan for a thinner crust. I Baked it for 3-4 min at 400 deg. to firm it up. I topped it with some vegan mushroom meatballs and a little mushroom gravy, and heated it all up. Make up your own versions. Anything that goes with rice will taste great with this crust!
The secret is to use short grain rice, it holds together better. None in my area. (Thanks Amazon). This rice is tender and delicious. Frankly, I like it better than the long grain. Make sushi if you must, but don't forget how good this is as a pizza crust!

I like this brand but out of 4 packs received 2 had inferior quality compared to the Lindbergh rice that I am accustomed to. Not sure why but it had a lot of rice powder or broken pieces that created “dirty” look so the first photo shows the “dirty” rice and the second shows the regular rice that I used to buy at Whole Foods. Not sure why there is difference.

We recently spent a "snow" day off from work and school, preparing our sushi. The rice was perfectly delicious and "sticky" and the Nori was easy to roll. Best part was the Sushezi and how "Ezi" it really is. Went to You-Tube and got a few pointers before we started. As the instructions were not in English . . but the photos were very helpful. Moisten fingers before pressing rice into mold. Roll the prepared "roll" of sushi in saran wrap or press 'n seal and place in fridge a few minutes to make it easier to cut into "Sushi". Love it, and will use regularly. We experimented a lot with our own ingredients and sauces. A great product.
