Jason Boyett always threads a subtle ribbon of provocative thinking alongside his renowned wit. Don't let the style or pithiness fool you, this is some real deal schooling on the very roots of the stories we still carry into our popular culture, philosophy, and the night sky. I say this as someone who broke the spine of D'Aulaire's Book of Greek Myths from repeated childhood readings: it's marvelous.―Lauren Sandler, best-selling author of One and Only and Righteous
I'd love to tell you how good this book is but I can't get it away from my kids.―Daniel Radosh, senior writer at The Daily Show with Trevor Noah
"Greek Mythology is an excellent reference guide to the stories that gave rise to Western civilization. This introduction to classical mythology and its quirky cast of human, divine, and hybrid characters is well written and packed with fun facts. Boyett expertly takes the reader on a fascinating journey of the ancient Greek myths and shows how they remain relevant today.”―Robert R. Cargill, Ph.D., Asst. Professor of Classics and Religious Studies, University of Iowa

The Book is separated into two sections (the characters and the stories) and includes a FAMILY TREE and a MAP so that you can see how it all comes together! The characters are split between three sections: the dieties, the major titans/olympians, and the minor gods, demigods, monsters, humans and heroes. The stories are split between five sections: Origin Stories, Matters of the Heart, Skirmishes & Discord, Humans & Heroes, and Mythological Settings. The book ends with the “End of the Gods” conclusion.
As you can see from my pictures the stories are brief and the book is easy to pick up and put down as needed. Good for a quick read or if you prefer sitting down and reading it straight through you can do that, too. A very thorough book, covers a lot of ground. If you want to learn more in-depth information you can find further recommendations in the end of the book.
I have included a few of my own product photos for you to see rather than relying on “stock” photos in the listing. *I received a sample of this item at a discount in return for an honest and unbiased review*
This is a great reference book for anyone with even a remote interest on the subject of Greek Mythology, both young and old. It's especially a great starter book or a great refresher book. It's put together well and is easy to follow. There is even a little added humor included.
Disclosure: I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Overall this book is super simple to read but it is not a children's book. When it says lust it means LUST, like family lust and self lust. I recommend getting this if you have an interest in mythology.
I did receive this book for free in exchange for my honest opinion and unbiased review. All views are 100% my own. If it was a crap book I would have said so.
I did receive this at a discount in order to thoroughly read through and provide my honest, unbiased opinion. Your thoughts and experience on this may vary from that of my own, of course.
