An interesting read from two very different authors

It is a bit much especially at first reading Pamela Anderson condemning pornography. Yes this is the same Pamela Anderson of Playboy fame who tended to show up nude or in swimsuits at Playboy mansion parties, on television or in Borat films. This book, written with the great one Michael Jackson's Rabbi Shmuley Boteach goes off on a few tangents of cognitive dissonance like this one, but still one cannot deny the coarsening of US culture and feelings/attitudes toward sex. It is a remarkably sad thing when a man has his wife lying in bed next to him who he hasn't touched in months since he prefers to look at internet porn. The central themes are about reawakening sex in a dead marriage which is something I seriously do not believe can be done. Better to keep sex strong from the get go - something women strongly and deliberately screw up particularly once they have children. Pamela Anderson is also divorced a few times as I recall and had a few humiliating sex tapes surface over the years. Not quite the same as the conservative Rabbi, but always nice to see people mature and want to improve the lives of people inundated with sex but likewise sex starved. How ironic. The modern world is certainly full of such irony. Think of millions of people packed together into highly concentrated city environments where the biggest problem people complain of is loneliness. An interesting book worth checking out.

Lust for Love by Pamela Anderson is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in late April.

Once Anderson and Rabbi Shmuley talk through the intricacies of their kooky, unusual partnership, they each chime in on the lack of love and eroticism in present-day relationships (that are mired by, among other things, instant gratification, a limited amount of foreplay, and having multiple sexual partners), as well as eroticism from a male and female standpoint, finding a balance between the surge of lust and easy company of intimacy, porn as limiting to understanding how profoundly deep people are when you know them face to face, and being appreciated/stimulated through intimacy. Each chapter combines their voices with smaller solo insets that chime in on the ongoing topic (i.e. "I understand this perspective, because..." or "I've been through this in my own life when..."), yet I kept on remarking to myself about how this book would have worked better as a set of articles, since they get so lost in examples that you as a reader aren't brought into a topic as much as trying find the point of it all (i.e. these examples should be used way, way more sparingly).
