EDIT: Since I've had this installed for a while now, I have another complaint. Sometimes (can't figure out rhyme or reason), I can't get it to fade on. I will slowly slide it up (so as not to wake the baby) and nothing. Eventually, about halfway up, the light suddenly comes on at half power instead of low power, which can be quite a jolt in a room. Not sure what causes it. It doesn't happen when fading off, only when fading on, and not all of the time, but when it happens, no amount of jiggling or sliding up and down gets it to fade on slowly!
I looked around and saw one at Wal*Mart but they wanted over $11 for it. Looked on Amazon, boom, $8 for almost the same item!
What was great about it was it came pre-wired and with twist-on wire connectors, which was awesome, because those thick wires are really stiff and not easy to bend around screws. including removing the face-plate and replacing it, it took me maybe.. 7 or 8 minutes at the most.
Didn't need to snip any of the heatsinks to fit the switch which was good (Though, be aware, you'll lose 100watts for each side of the fins you remove)
Another matter of interest is the size of the switch. It's at least as big as a GFI, so make sure you leave room.
If price is an issue, go for it. If you can swing the additional $10, spring for one with an on/off switch and a separate dimmer slide.
Sometimes I've worried I'll break the switch. It's very flimsy. But for the price - it's worth it.

This was very easy to install and dimmed my halogen lights perfectly. I liked that I didn't have to buy the cover plate separately. The original cover plate fit right over it. Read morePublished 3 months ago by RealReviewer
Installation was a breeze. I noticed some flickering at the lowest light settings at first, now they operate smoothly. I installed three of these switches in our new kitchen. Read morePublished 4 months ago by John
