This is dangerous!

We received the bottle several days ago and I took it to a welding shop to fill it with CO2 today. Several hours later the bottle top gave out with a loud bang. The bottle flew off the counter and broke a kitchen floor tile. All the CO2 escaped in a great white hissing cloud. No one got hurt luckily but it was very very scary. Could have been worse?

I ordered this tank after seeing the pictures which very clearly show the Kegco name and logo on the tank. Upon receiving it, there was no logo, or any other identifying information. I e-mailed Kegco with a picture of the tank and they told me it is not an authentic tank, that Luxfer has nothing to do with Kegco, and nor does Luxfer have any right to use the Kegco name or logo. I will be returning this tank.

Shiny body and brass valve but 5 month old hydro date

Got my tank today. Looks better than the picture. Its all polished aluminum all the way including the neck area, as well as brand new brass valve all shining and polished all over. The picture on this page, does not do justice to what I got.. its bright sparkling from top to bottom... good look!

The date is a bit less ideal. Mine came as Oct 2015, i.e. already 5 month old. I asked seller after I order about this.. well I guess instead of getting 60 months worth of use, some guys get lucky and get a new tank the month it was made (i.e. hydro date). This is good for 5 years/60 months of use though as it gets closer to the end, you may be asked to do a hydro test as fillers may not want fill a tank with less than 6 months hydro left. But I am not sure about this.

So if one loses 5 months over 60 months you pay for, its like 10% or 9% off the value.

Maybe best to go around the various sellers and contact them ahead and ask the hydro date on their tank, if possible and then decide.

Could not find dents or such so seems quite sturdy built and has survived UPS Ground even though was packaged in a box without any additional padding or protection other than the walls of the box itself.

Now I cannot wait to get it filled with CO2 for $15 (New Jersey price) - while I wait, no exchange scam, and start producing tasty strong seltzer and soda in standard 1L and 2L soda plastic bottles (have the rest of the system already - including soda plastic bottle adapters - check my other reviews)! Bye bye Sodastream and buying soda from the store...

4 stars since I take one star off because of the hydro date being 5 month old. If you get lucky to get a fresher date one, its a great buy and surely a 5 stars one - just ask the seller ahead and find out who has freshly manufactured tanks.

So, the tank that is shown has a big "Kegco" written on it. The one that I received has nothing written on it. Does it really matter? Not really, I bought this one because I have no cabinet to hide it inside of, so, I spent a little more to buy a nicer looking one that would be on display, so, I am a little saddened to see that I received a different one. With all that being said, it is a VERY nice tank! Nice and shiny. The date on it was a month or two before the month that I bought it in. Not complaining about that. Doesn't matter to me. Close enough for me. I haven't had a leak in it yet, it does what it is supposed to do and I am pretty happy with it. I know it sounds retarded, but, I just wanted that stupid Kegco written on it. That is my only complaint and that is why I gave it 4 stars, instead of 5. Other than that, it is a great tank! Small and compact and I am using it for CO2 injection into a 20 gallon tall aquarium and I filled it up to, roughly, 600 psi and it has been a month and the needle has barely moved! This should last me a long time! Very pleased with this purchase.

Update: I am happy with this purchase. After doing some research I do notice that this does have Luxfer etched into it, so, it is consistant with what they say on this page and what they are showing that you will get. This tank ended up lasting me close to 4 months at a fairly high rate on a 20 gallon fish tank. Pretty good. I live in a suburb of a decent sized city and I found a supplier to fill it up and give me back the same tank. They did say that anything bigger than a 5 pound tank would be swapped out, so, this is GREAT buy for me. Apparently, they refill by sending the bigger tanks out, but, it doesn't take them too long to refill a 5lbs tank by syphoning it from another tank. Very happy with how long it lasted and it looks great. Good luck and thanks for reading!

-Update 10/13/2020-still going strong! I ordered another one from here and I got a M8032 and it is a Japanese tank made by some fire fighting company in Japan. The valve was broke when I received it and I got a replacement one. I took it to get filled and the guy picked it up by the valve and it broke.... It is the part that turns on the top of the tank and in this case, it was plastic. They were nice enough to replace it for free for me (with a nicer metal one), so, I guess it is your call because it seems like you get what they decide to send you, it may be a Luxfer or it may be a generic one. I would HIGHLY recommend that you contact them first to see what you are going to get before placing an order. Your call though in the end. Good luck out there and thanks for reading!
PS-there is a seller that is called Zebra DNA Luxfer co2 tank. If you look that one up, they sent me a Luxfer tank. The exact one that this seller(s) are showing as the $64 one above.

Decent Bottle but Arrived Broken and a Year Old (Hydro Test)

Seems like a decent bottle. It arrived as a box within a box. The inner box still had shipping labels showing where the bottle had made some cross-country trips before arriving to Amazon, who then put it in another box before shipping it to me. There was little protection in the inner box and the plastic valve handle was cracked and crooked (see pics).
Also, I ordered/received this in June of 2020. The bottle was manufactured in June of 2019. As you know, these bottles need to be hydro tested every 5 years, so out of the box it's already 1 year into its first certification.

I wish I returned it, but I was in a pinch for time. Lesson learned.

Instead of paying 35 bucks for a 14.5oz refill cartridge (or 20 with exchanging old cartridge), I bought this tank along with an adapter, (purchased separately; can be found on AMZN but much cheaper elsewhere) and now can have infinitely cheaper bubbles! Costs under 2 bucks per pound to fill CO2 where I live; which means by the time I have to refill this even ONCE I have already made my money back from the savings.

Mine is certified Sept 2020 (received Jan 2021). So they're brand spankin' new!

My replacement arrived, this time with the knob in tack, still a little crack in the nob but it will do the trick, this tank is brand new and was just certified in June of this year, besides the little crack on the knob I’m very happy with the tank, I would suggest putting some bubble wrap though around the knob 100%, my tank arrived quickly and as expected
