Lyman's new 49th Edition Reloading Handbook is the latest version of their extremely popular rifle and pistol manual. The 49th Edition covers all popular new rifle calibers such as the 204 Ruger, 6.8 Rem SPC, 325 WSM, 338 Federal, 375 Ruger, 405 Winchester and the WSSM series. In addition, new pistol calibers such as the 5.7x28mm, and 460 S&W are also included. A wide selection of powders are included covering Alliant, Accurate, Hodgdon, Ramshot, VihtaVuori, and Winchester. Additionally, most popular bullet brands are also used including Barnes, Hornady, Nosler, Sierra, Speer, and Swift. As always, full coverage is also given to Lyman cast bullets throughout the handbook. This is the one handbook that should find a home on all reloading benches.

The load tables, in my opinion, could certainly have some additional references to other powders and bullets. For the 6 or 7 loads I was mainly interested in, there were limited powders and bullets listed. I can find as much, or more, pertinent information for those loads on the web, from experienced reloaders. That being the situation, I knocked off a star in my rating.
I anticipated a better, more comprehensive manual than what I got. For as many printings as this 49th edition has had, you'd think they would have revised it by now to include more up to date bullet and powder choices and information. In my opinion, they need to revise it to a 50th edition and add more new information to include those newly available powder and bullet products.
You'll most likely need more than this one manual, and some web information, to get what you need for your selected ammo reloading.
As usual, orders from amazon are handled professionally and arrive when scheduled. You can't go wrong ordering Amazon supplied products.
What I have been doing because of missing data is using the manual, using data published on line by the powder makers, and then looking at various forums to see what others are using. Many times, the load that people are using is on the low end of both what the manual suggests and the powder company numbers. Other times the commonly recommended load is actually on the higher end. Because of missing data and the ability of people to look at other sources, the book really needs that update. if they did do an update with coated and platd bullets and those bullets in new weights and profiles, i would be one of the first purchasers.
The first page is the index for the calibers and the page number. When you go to your page needed, their is a section that has the specifications such as length, primer, and bullets. Then they have it positioned based on the different grain bullets that contain the specific specifications for each type. This contains the type of gun power, velocity, grains needed, and pressure. Over all, this is the book to get! I also posted a photo for all the calibers they reload.
It also doesn't have data for 6.5 creedmore. I suspect others, but I was really hoping for that.
That said, this is an otherwise great book and you likely wont be disappointed unless you have a very specific new caliber in mind that isn't covered.
