First off, all the characters were flat and so similar it was difficult to distinguish one from the other! All of her major characters except for the gay wedding planner were so preoccupied with being a smart aleck that this could have been better off as monologue narrative!
Don't get me wrong! The first three chapters were fun to read! So much history and chemistry between these lovebirds makes you root for them all the way to the altar!
Sadly, halfway through the story, I just finished the reading it because of course I was suckered enough to pay for it. I'm glad it's a kindle as oppose to a paperback. I don't want to kill trees or waste space in my bookshelves over this novel.
Cliff notes: too much wit and fun downplays the sincerity of the novel.
I also thought most of the secondary characters were likable, funny, and very interesting for the most part..
Back in their childhood days, Lyric Wright always had a crush on Heath Montgomery, her neighbor and her best friend. But....like most men, Heath puts his foot in his mouth and causes a big riff between him and the twins. Now 12 years later, Lyric has just recently lost her fiancé of two years, and then her dress starts to unravel while trying to catch a plane to go see her sick dad. As if things weren't already bad enough, she ends up sitting next to Heath Montgomery, the boy her broke her heart when she was seventeen.
What ensues from that point on is a vast comedy of errors, a humorous seduction of Lyric Wright by the man who has loved her for most of his life. And the realization that things aren't always as you thought they were kind of process, that takes place for both of them.
I can't wait to get my hands on the next installment!
I can't wait to read more by this author!
There are big decisions and it's not all easy for them.
"How many job sites have you trained on?" "Too many to count. But they were all practice for you."
I enjoy a good laugh a lot more than dark, brooding, broken people feeling sorry for themselves. Keep it up and I will be your first preorder.
