Had to run Windows disk utility to format the drive but works flawlessly following this. Same speed as another 2TB NVME in my second m.2 slot ***UPDATE*** Purchased another unit for my main PC, i9 14900K on a LGA1700 motherboard. I had an extra GPU port, PCIe 4x so I purchased another one of these and threw another M.2 drive in. Attached is the new Crystal mark results which is comparable to my main on board M.2 drive (both housing WD Black 4TB SN850X). Very happy with these results!

This PCIE adapter is working on non-NVME MB and CPU setup. If your CPU and Motherboard combo won't read a NVME drive (mine will only see M.2 SATA which is a lot slower), then this $10 add-on is the perfect upgrade.

The first Pic is with the PCIE adapter NVME Samsung drive. The second Pic is my onboard M.2 slot that will only read SATA drives because that what my CPU supports. Not anymore, thanks to this upgrade!

The pc I installed this in didn't have a m.2 slot, so i ordered this for 10 bucks. Putting it together was easy, and it came with a heatsink, which I'd pretty good for only 10 dollars.

However, the metal bracket, pcie stand, or whatever else you want to call the metal thing supposed to go on the end, did not fit. Or rather, no screws worked with it, some were too large, some too small. It doesn't matter since it'd only used for reinforcement and the whole adapter and ssd is very lightweight, so it can be supported by the pcie connecter itself.

Definitely worth it, although I wished the bracket worked.

Loved the fact that this adapter just works. I have an old computer running an Intel i7 3770k and the motherboard just doesn't support nvme. While I can't boot from the drive because the bios just doesn't support it, I can at least access it as a normal drive which this does perfectly. It's only been a few weeks with it and I'm pretty happy with it.

unit is good but not as nice as the nooderst style with a fan and heatsink. speeds are same but no active cooling so unless u have a case fan over it i suggest getting one with heatsink and fan as your nvme drive will last much longer especially in a server environment where heat can be a problem. should be fine in a gamers rig tho as cooling fans are everywhere. make sure to check for bridged solder joints on the m.2 port as one of mine had some bridged so if i didnt notice i could of fried my m.2 wd black drive plus my pci express port and possibly the whole motherboard so make sure you look over first as mistakes happen in processing but if you fry your whole system trying to save ten dollars you may not want to purchase as the quality control is not there. they should be carefully inspected before placing your m.2 in this puppy as it might just pooch your whole system but more then likely just kill your m.2 and motherboard if the solder traces are bridged like 1 of mine was.
