About M D Flyn
M. D. Flyn is a voracious reader, a writer, and a chocolate inhaler. A lover of all things fantasy, scifi, and otherwise odd, she is a perpetrator of geekery. She began as a fluffy little thing, hiding in the woods with a good fairy tale. Years and lots of children later, she has returned to the birches of New Hampshire. Her superpower is breaking mechanical things by looking at them. She is easily distracted by sparkly things. In her spare time she gets glitter in the cracks between the floorboards, and pesters the local paper about homelessness. She is a goth cheerleader for the little guy and aspires to be your geek mom. She runs amuck and is rarely restrained by her good sense. Rejoicing in beautiful weirdness and sarcasm, you can visit her at her blog MDFlyn.com or on Twitter @mdflynwriter.

Blog postFor me the new year is a time for exploring new things, not so much dwelling on what has gone wrong thus far, but what new things I can muck up fabulously. Preferably with glitter.
“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes,
then you are making new things,
trying new things,
learning, living,
pushing yourself,
changing yourself,
changing your world.

Blog post“Hopepunk says that genuinely and sincerely caring about something, anything, requires bravery and strength. Hopepunk isn’t ever about submission or acceptance: It’s about standing up and fighting for what you believe in. It’s about standing up for other people. It’s about DEMANDING a better, kinder world, and truly believing that we can get there if we care about each other as hard as we possibly can, with every drop of power in our little hearts.”

Lasagna and Successes: A noir short story
Aug 20, 2017
by
M D Flyn
$0.99
In this noir short story a woman discovers a terrible secret, and chooses to solve her problems with lasagna.
She is a woman worn down by life, not so uncommon. But it turns out her husband is anything but common.
When she finds something suspicious in the trunk, her troubles are just beginning.
Will lasagna solve her problems, or is the danger even deeper than she thought?
Follow along on a suspenseful journey as she struggles to reconcile herself with his successes.
This is a quick, stand-alone read.
"Staring outside, at the neighbors leaving for work. Somehow even the ones in a rush still have more happiness in their faces than he ever does. It's a willingness, a pliability in their expression, as if they could smile, if you gave them the chance."
