That hasn't been the case. Day one of having her new tablet and case my wife called me (her default tech support) saying that there was a problem with the tablet. Whenever using the M-edge and the tablet certain features on the tablet were wonky or stopped working entirely. For example the 'home', 'back' and 'setting' keys on the bottom of the tablet stopped altogether. Just exiting an application was almost impossible. Other applications would open and then close immediately. The screen would suddenly shutoff too requiring my wife to constantly reenter her unlock password.
I suspected that part of the problem was the magnetic closure that keeps the case closed and confirmed that right away. An insert in the M-edge advises folding the magnetic strap back when using a tablet to prevent the screen from going to sleep. Except doing that shuts the screen off. The only choice is to awkwardly position the strap and prevent it from folding back and putting the screen to sleep. This is next to impossible when moving the tablet as the magnetic components are obviously attracted to each other. It's pretty evident that the M-edge was never tested with the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014.
The other series of issues I described above were a bit trickier to figure out.Read more ›
It holds the tablet securely, and allows for multiple ways of holding it or using it on a table or other hard surface. When not using the keyboard, or using the tablet in vertical configuration, the keyboard can be folded safely behind the tablet - little edge pieces prevent keys from being bumped. They also prevent the keyboard from coming into contact with the screen, when the case is closed. When the case is closed, it does not interfere with plugging in the usb charging cable.
It's comfortable to hold, looks nice, and has room for a stylus.
The keyboard itself was extremely easy to set up and works well. Presumably since they intended this to be primarily for the iPad market, some of the "special" keys (brightness control, email) didn't do anything special out-of-the-box. I installed the free version of External Keyboard Helper Pro and that let me fix that. The keyboard itself is responsive, and apparently doesn't need recharging often - I've been using it heavily for a couple of days now, and haven't seen the recharge light come on.
Another reviewer mentioned the rubber holders messing with the power button on the tab, but I had no trouble. It does run _close_ to the button, and I had to be a tiny bit careful when first inserting it, but it hasn't given me any grief.
Where I purchased this, it cost less than just a bluetooth keyboard alone. I can't tell whether I got a great case with a bonus great keyboard, or a great keyboard with a bonus great case.

This is perfect! I love that the keyboard is magnetic and can be detached from the case. No problems with it at all.Published 3 months ago by chris rainwater
