From the Author
After podcasting 18 months about early mornings, healthy habits, and rockin' productivity I was asked to write a book about those same topics. Needless to say, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to spell out my entire system in one comprehensive manual.
To put it simply, this book is all about action. It's not a novel. It's not a passive read. This is a workbook, an action guide, and a step-by-step system to help you achieve your grandest goals.
I'm so excited to share these strategies with you and I hope it has an enormous impact on you, whether you choose to wake up at 5:00 am or not (which, by the way, is totally optional!).
- Jeff Sanders

That said- he seriously spoke my language and articulated steps that I hadn't considered and will work for me. I am super motivated and consequently annoying all of my employees.
The book is very easy to read and gives you plenty of room in the book to actually do everything he is telling you to do. I recommend reading it in front of your computer with a highlighter and pen. This way, you can implement his strategies immediately. (And quickly...it really does not take long to complete most of his recommendations).
It's great that the author recognizes the need to adapt. As a professional organizer, I know very well that there is not one system that works for everyone. I normally set people up with a system, ask them to live with it for a week, and then revisit it to make changes. (I don't make the pretty labels right away, I start out with post-its!). The author does the same thing here, telling you to make your task lists and routines, try them out, and then change them so that they work better for you. He encourages this on multiple timetables and recognizes that the same system will not work forever and you will need to continually revise your schedule.
The only thing here is that I would not recommend this for people with severely rotating schedules (i.e. - My husband switches his schedule every four weeks, he works 12 hour day shifts that alternate days in 2 week spans, then switches and does the same but overnight...whaaaaa? Yeah, it's ridiculous but this would not work for him). I do think it could be helpful if you at least can have a consistent sleep pattern, regardless of your work schedule.
The sections on goal setting have been really helpful. I am not (yet) following the exact process set out in this book, but it has changed the way I am looking at setting personal and business goals for myself, which is something I wasn't expecting from this book. And I am really benefitting from this change in perspective.
I highly recommend this book. (If you're trying to decide whether to buy it in print or on Kindle, go for print. I bought it on Kindle and regret that, because it's harder to use it as a reference in the future, and I definitely want to do that.)
