Product Description

The M-edge Accessories e-Luminator, designed in white to match the Kindle, has a long, sturdy arm that slides into a specially made pocket on the M-edge Executive jacket. Once in position, the flexible neck enables the reader to use the light from the side or above. The best part? The light lays snuggly along the spine while the cover is closed, and thus no worries about booklight clips that damage the jacket and no need to stow the booklight separately. The e-Luminator utilizes a special superbright LED light that spreads light smoothly across the Kindle. A long lasting A23 battery powers the device. The M-edge Accessories e-Luminator...don't be left in the dark!

This light is meant to be used with the new M-Edge Kindle covers. Rather than have a clip, there is a small plastic bar/tab that slips into a slot behind the kindle (to be honest, I did not even know it was there until the light arrived - I envisioned it would go in the elastic pen tab). Very slick. It does not interfere with the kindle in any way.

Pros:
-Lays flat beside kindle, cover easily closes over it
-No big clip to worry about
-Battery easily replaced - screw top design requires no tools, battery size like that similar to garage door opener
-Flexible arm easily conforms to any place you want it to be
-Blue hue reduces glare and is not harsh whatsoever but plenty of light to see (woohoo!)
-Arrived with battery

Cons:
-It seems a little short at first which results in uneven illumination, but length is of course limited (I've adapted)
-Very plastic-y
-Seems to attract dirt in its seams (mine had some coming out of package)
-Obviously, because it is made to work with the kindle, it doesn't have a clip or stand to work as a stand-alone light, which other options have

Since my big grievance has been toting around my large Mighty Bright light, I couldn't be happier. This light has zero footprint, easily fitting inside the kindle cover when closed.

While this does not pertain to the light, unlike other reviewers, I have nothing but positive things to say about M-Edge customer service. I was contacted by two customer service reps via e-mail 1) regarding a cover I returned and 2) regarding the light's shipment date. They were both extremely pleasant and gave accurate information. My light arrived 12/26 and was ordered the end of November.

My only problem with this product is the screw-on cover for the battery compartment. I spent 5 minutes trying to screw it on tightly, only to have it pop-off. I finally discovered that the trick is not to screw the cover on until it tightens completely (it never will). Instead, twist it until it begins to feel tight and then stop - if you continue to turn it further it will loosen back up instead. My battery cover has stayed on and seems secure after several days of use but does make me a bit nervous because losing that cover will make this product worthless.

With the exception of the battery cover, the booklight is excellent. Installation into my compatible M-Edge cover was a snap and the light-weight, low profile design is a huge improvement over the other lights I've tried and didn't interfere with any of my preferred ways to hold my Kindle. The light is bright enough for me to read by comfortably and is easily positionable. The necessary A23 battery was included with the product and is much more convenient than the button batteries some lights use (A23 batteries look like shorter AAA batteries).

This would be a 5 star review, but the problem with the battery cover can't be ignored. Such an easy to fix issue should never have reached the consumer.

I am almost 100% satisfied with my new e-luminator for my Kindle. I love the way the m-edge case has a slot specifically to hold the e-luminator snug in place. The large plastic tab that fits behind the kindle guarantees that it does not slip around and I DON'T have to un-clip it and store it separately. It offers plenty of light for reading on a plane or in bed. However, I have one complaint and I feel it is a pretty big error.

If you put the e-luminator in backwards it lights up the kindle better and does not get in the way of using the page buttons. However, this takes away from its convenience factor. Once done reading you have to pull the e-luminator tab out from behind the Kindle and place it back in the correct way for it to store in the M-edge leather case.

In my opinion, the connecting plastic from the battery case to the plastic tap should toggle up and down. Up to use, down to store. I found this to be a large functionality error on the design aspect and deducted one star for this reason.

This light fits beautifully in the leather covers that M-edge also sells.

Everytime I've tried to use it since receipt, I think "Did anyone who actually uses a Kindle try this before they started manufacture?".

The light itself is very bright. Which seems like a good thing, until you realize that the way the bulb is positioned on the semi-flexible neck means the light will shine in your face - not on the Kindle screen. I cannot imagine how they got it to look so appropriately aimed in the display picture. When I do manage to get it aimed at the screen and not blinding me, there's too much glare!

The neck is too stiff, and doesn't hold position well, because it's trying to un-bend as soon as you aim it.

I'm throwing this in a drawer and using the Mighty Bright I had before.

I ordered 2 of these. One for myself and one for my husband. The light fits well into the M-Edge case which is handy. The battery cover has stayed on, unlike some. However, after only a couple of hours of use, the light dims so badly it is unusable. Also, the design of the neck could have been much better. It is stiff and requires a bit of twisting and bending each time to get it in a position that: 1) doesn't cause a bright spot of glare and 2) isn't in your line of vision. I'm very disappointed in this product, especially after having waited so long to get it. I will say that when I emailed M-Edge, they did respond quickly. They don't know what to do about it yet, but they did acknowledge there IS a problem and they are working on it. Better than some...
