This cover allows you to keep your vent open when you are travelling, when it is raining, etc.
In addition, I also installed the Maxxair Vent Corp 00-955202 Maxxair Fanmate Add-On Bug Screen. I would have liked this to be included, but overall I am very happy with the quality. If you buy the screen, it works even better if you install some zip ties to keep it extremely secure (as pictured).
They also have hardware for other types of vent fans (included). We just needed the 4 included clips.
I have read reviews on the optional bug screen that can be purchased for this and it sounds even more poorly made than the hood. I decided to use attic vent screen instead, using zip ties and a glue gun to attach the screen to the louvers. This worked well, and makes the entire assembly more stable and less flimsy.
The biggest positive about this is the color matches my other covers and attaching it just took the four provided pins. It mounted to the existing tabs on the Maxxair unit.
There aren't really many choices in covers than these, especially if you want to match existing hoods. Just be aware of the short comings.
We just installed a new fan in our bathroom. The old cover would not fit, so I ordered this to protect from rain.
While this is bar far the easiest cover I have EVER installed (just four pins and no drilling with a Maxxair fan), This cover is a disappointment next to their other covers.
1 no screen? Really?
2 you spend the extra money to get the screen and now it keeps popping apart?
Very disappointed. I used about a 1/2 tube of caulk sealing the grill to the sides and the screen to the grill to keep the bees out.
3. It seems flimsy. I hope with a little in damage it’s still there after a couple years.
My only mild complaint is that the Fanmate doesn't come with a bug screen. For now I'm just not going to use one since the Maxx Fan has one anyway.

The cover is well made, fits well and is very easy to fit over a Maxxair fan as they have matching lugs to clip onto - the most difficult bit about that installation is climbing the ladder to do it. If you don't have a Maxxair fan, you will need to use all the brackets they supply, which again is an easy job, and they supply all fixings in aluminium and stainless steel. It might take you and hour if you have to use the fitting kit, otherwise, it takes longer to find the ladder!
This expensive piece of odd shaped plastic is designed to allow you to leave the vent open in the rain and while travelling. I have no doubt it will be good for that.
My reason for the low stars is that for your $100, they don't even include a bug screen! I have never, ever camped anywhere that didn't require a bug screen. To find that piece is extra after it arrived was more than a little annoying. For that privilege they would like another $32.44.
So, after spending nearly $300 on a new fan that you cannot fit the old cover over, then waiting for an extra week for the new cover to be delivered, then finding you need a bug screen, seriously consider the next model up with the cover and the bug screen and the remote control fitted in the box - I thought that remote control would be a bit of a waste but now I've fitted it, got annoyed by it, struggled to reach the non-remote controls because I'm a short-arse, and reviewed the price of the next model up, that extra $75 is well worth it.
Amazon took a full 7 days longer than initially promised to ship this item - I'm not surprised as they were stupidly ambitious with their get it by date through Prime, but fortunately that didn't matter, just another little peave.
Set the cover on, line up the slots with the nubs on the vent, slip the supplied pins thru and done.
Rather than spending another $30 on the screen kit, I attached a scrap of aluminum window screen inside the louvers with zip ties, probably less than $0.50.
