MBT shoes are physiological footwear--the first footwear that has a positive effect on the entire body. MBT stands for "Masai Barefoot Technology." I definitely recommend this boot. I bought it after wearing the Mary Jane style MBTs for over a year. I have worn it pretty much daily for the past 3 or 4 months. It is so much more comfortable than any other shoe I own. It still looks new and has held up perfectly. It felt very snug at first, but after about a week, the leather loosened a little bit and now fits perfectly. I especially enjoy wearing them when I have to be on my feet for a long amount of time. Their only drawback is in the snow: they are slippery and aren't 100% waterproof.

I bought one full size up from my normal shoe size based on previous reviews but I think half size up would have been fine.

Runs small and narrow

Order 1/2 size larger than your normal shoe. My first pair has to be returned because it's smaller than my normal size. The toe box runs short and narrow. I think this is MTB's error in sizing them wrong.

Also, I agree with another reviewer that these are not made for women with calves! If you are athletic/have muscles from walking, running, cycling, etc., they will be very tight at first and hard to zip. There is some give and they will stretch within reason after being broken in. It seems the company only tried these for size using skinny, teen aged, fashion-model-type women.

These are beautiful, if expensive, boots. I must wear only negative heel shoes due to a intermetatarsal neuroma. They allow me to walk without pain.

I'm ordering a pair in each color, the sale on these for 1/3 the normal high price is too much to resist. Negative heel boots are very hard to find! MTB's well made and very comfortable, once your fit is established. The prices are super high. I've waited for these to go on sale. If you are reluctant to pay so much, watch for sales!

For less expensive but good quality negative heels, try Sketchers Shape Ups and "Earth" brand. For an almost exact copy of this style, but in a vegan "patent leather" material (MTB's are real leather), look for Earth Women's Elite. They cost $99, come in several bright and shinny colors, and run true to size in fit.

Poor construction design!

My favorite shoes are all my MBT's. So I was very excited about getting a pair of these boots for Christmas! But, I was very surprised by how poorly the construction is on such a very expensive boot! They fit me just fine, but since there is no tab covering over the very long zipper, the bare metal, scratched and bruised my leg after wearing them for only a few short hours. Not even putting on long socks to cover the zipper worked!! Unless they improve the design, I would not recommend these boots to anyone!!!!!

Not as comfortable as other MBTs I've owned

I am a huge MBT fan and have been very disappointed in these boots. I wonder if they are even real MBTs???

I bought them over the summer, when they were on sale, and am only trying them on now--they do zip up, but as others have noted, the toe box is narrower than on other MBTs I've owned.

The leather doesn't feel as nice, either -- it rubs on the ankles. If I had saved the box, I'd be returning these but it's too late now....sigh.

It's true that I have wide feet, but this is my sixth pair of MBTs and it's never been a problem before. Maybe these will become more comfortable as the leather gives, but all my other MBTs have been super comfortable as soon as I put them on.

If you can try these on before you buy them, I would.
