Top customer reviews
There are instructions included for removing the glass which was nice to see. I didn't realize these were front loaded frames and had never used the front loaded style before, but the glass was easy to remove. We didn't break off the table stand tab on the back as our project involved wall hanging the frames but it seems like it would be simple to do. I don't think these would hang very well using the picture hooks found in most shops, but they have excellent holes for using a simple nail to hang in either portrait or landscape orientation.
The frame itself is a molded plastic that feels sturdy enough for the application but I don't think it would hold up well to much of a fall, especially if it terminated on a hard floor instead of carpet. The edges of the glass were nicely smoothed and I didn't feel there was any danger of slicing fingers on it without really putting in some intentional effort.
Bottom line, these are an easy to use fully functional and affordable frame.
Follow up 12/20/13:
Amazon exchanged the broken frame for us with no hassle at all. In fact, they sent an entire new 12 pack so even if you get a couple of bad apples, one replacement should more than cover you. I put up some pictures showing the backs of these frames here:
For some reason, they're posting on the page down near the comments section instead of up at the top with the other photos like most products.
Each frame comes wrapped in it's own protective plastic and can be used for wall hanging or setting on a shelf. They are front loading and easy to pop out, place your picture in and then pop back in. For those pictures that may have been trimmed a bit too small, the black cardboard that is in each frame hides that flaw well when place behind the photo.
Easy to put pictures in
Black cardboard backing hides any gap from trimming photo too small
Frames were individually wrapped to protect them from damage
Simple frame makes the photo the star instead of focusing on the frame
Frames can be used to display photos on wall or on shelf
Each frame comes with a tab and instructions to make is a free standing frame
Works with a photo mat if you want one
Simple to hang. The frame has holes to hang horizontal or vertical
Frame is light enough you can use a push pin to hang it from
If you change from hanging to sitting on a shelf you will need to take out the photo and put back in upside down. The way to attach the tab for the stand uses the same hole that you would use to hang on the wall so the top of the frame would then be the bottom if moving from wall to shelf. It's very easy to just pop out the photo and put back in, but it still would be nice to change your display decision without taking your photos out.
