Achieve Perfect Fit and Seal
In-Ear Fit Guide
Sound quality and bass response are dependent on the seal achieved between the ear tips and your ear canal. Please try the various sizes of ear tips included with your earphone to determine which gives you the best sound and comfort. The sound may change depending on the insertion depth and tip size.
The MEE M6P earphone is an over-the-ear earphones with memory wire and may take several minutes to get the MEE M6 positioned for the best sound. Adjusting how the memory wire is positioned, insertion angle, as well as tips are important for comfort and getting a proper seal. If you do not hear much bass, you do not have a good seal. If the treble sounds harsh, the earphone requires a deeper insertion. Six sets of ear tips have been provided to help you achieve the best seal and comfort possible, please try the tips you think will fit your ear canal size best. Note: different ear tips may change the sound you hear due to how deep they insert and how well they seal. Usually tips with more flanges offer better isolation.
Each earphone is marked with a R for right and L for left channels. The MEE M6P channels are not swappable due to the design. Moistening your ear tips may make insertion easier. Pulling the upper part of your ear (helix) up and back while inserting your earphone opens your ear canal during insertion, which may improve your ability to get a deep insertion at the proper angle.
Using the Memory Wire
The memory wire keeps the cable over your ear and in place so the M6P will not move around even during sports and activities. The memory wire is designed to be flexible and bent to the shape of your ear. The first time wearing the M6P, put the driver housing in your ear and bend the memory wire around your ear to achieve a conforming fit. The memory wire will retain its shape for easier future installation. Repeatedly bending the memory wire at sharp angles will break the memory wire.
If you are still having issues, or if you feel that your earphone just does not sound as you think it should, please contact MEElectronics for more assistance.
Many owners have stated that the sound may improve with use when compared to the out of the box sound. This change in sound will occur with normal listening and is not necessary; however you can accelerate this process by playing music at a normal volume continuously for the first several days, called burn in.

For the price, I think these are great headphones. They sound MUCH BETTER than the headphones you might get free with an electronic device or for under $15 at any store. I don't know how they stack up against really expensive headphones, but I lose my headphones too often to buy really nice ones. The bass seems good and the sound is loud and clear.
NO VOLUME CONTROL
Unlike the iLuv iEP505 Premium earphone with Volume Control - Black, which I've also reviewed, these do not come with volume control. This is a big disappointment to me, as that is the number one reason why I like the iLuvs better. The iLuvs also allow me to amplify the sound of what I'm listening to, due to the volume control mechanism. This is great since I'm somewhat hard of hearing.
Instead of volume controls, these earphones feature in-line controls for starting and stopping music, and an in-line mic. This is great for allowing these to be my in-car headset, or the headphones I use while skiing or running. At least in this price-range (under $20), I haven't seen any headphones that have both volume control and an in-line mic and start-stop control.
I definitely don't treat my headphones well. These have gotten smashed and wet, and are subjected to frequent sweat from gym usage. They're still working fine after months of use.
FIT and STYLE
These fit great and look great - these use a pyramid shaped earpiece to wedge into the ear canal snugly, and have an over the ear hook to keep the headphones in place. That makes them GREAT for running, skiing, or other athletic usage.
These are a little bit pricier than the iLuvs, and don't have volume control, but they make up for that in fit and in the inclusion of the in-line mic. I'd definitely buy them again if I lost them.
Sound Reproduction - 4.5/5 - Initially bass-heavy, the sound of these earbuds really improves with burn-in. And the company gives clear instructions on how to optimally burn them in. They're dynamic drive, so they can bring the volume, but they will not have the detailed response of a balanced armature earbud. And being earbuds, there is a limit to what you can do at low frequencies with such small magnets. But overall, they are as good as any earbuds I've used.
Cable Noise - 5/5 - Ear canal buds are particularly prone to transmit noise from cable friction directly into your ear for you to hear. I've had earbuds where in order to drown out the cable noise I'd have had to turn the music volume to painful levels. The cables on the M6P are coated with a smooth plastic that produces very little friction, and I've not really noticed cable noise at all. All earbuds should have such cables!
Fit - 4/5 - I found this system a bit fiddly to put on, but once they are in, the fit is great. For the first hour or so, I can forget they are there they are so light and comfortable. I personally find that by the two hour mark, there is not a system I have ever tried that is not beginning to bother me. The memory wires for the behind the ear wrap provide a very secure fit - the earphones stay exactly where I need them over a 10km run without fiddling.
Controls - 3/5 - External user controls are very important to me - I hate having to dig my phone or ipod out every time I want to change tracks or pause. There is no volume control, which is an automatic -1 deduction in my books. As I move from environment to environment, I want to change the volume. The play/pause control is a standard push button, but the button is a bit on the small side and level with the housing, so it often takes me a little fumbling to find it. The double click to advance a track is fine. The triple click to repeat a track is starting to push the limits of what I can reasonably accomplish - about 1/3 of the time I advance the track and pause (the controller takes my attempt as 2+1 click motion instead of a 3 click motion). If you're not the type of person who listens to a tune and thinks "that's such a great track, let's hear it again", then this might not be an issue for you. Unfortunately, I am that type of person.
Mic - 4/5 - No real noise cancellation, as far as I could tell, but the mic seemed to be very clear if I was in a quieter environment. Siri could understand me just fine. You'll notice the use of the past tense in this one. More on that under "Quality".
Cable - 5/5 - Apart from cable noise, there are a number of other cable qualities that are important to me: length, jack plug, strength and "tangle-ability". The length of the cable on these is fine - not so long that I'm always trying to figure out how to store the extra, not so short that I can't reach from my waist to my ears (I'm pretty tall, some cables are too short for this). The jack plug is of the right-angle type - I slightly prefer straight, but there are definitely benefits to both configurations. The plug snaps into the jack securely and there is no appreciable noise when it pivots. The plug housing is narrow enough that I don't need to remove my iPhone case to plug it in. The cable seems to be one of the stronger ones I've encountered. I'm hard on earphones (hence the need for so many over the years), I find that sooner or later the chord will catch on something and get pulled. No problem so far with these cables. Finally, the coating and design that made them noise free also makes them almost tangle free. The memory wires are the only part of the set that seem to create any tangling problem at all. All in all, one of the best cable designs I've seen.
Quality - 3/5 - up until recently, I would have given this at least a 4.5/5, BUT ... my mic mysteriously and suddenly stopped functioning after three months. Now, the mic is not one of the more essential components to me, but I did use it, so I'm not impressed by a three month lifespan. However, it could be worse were it not for ....
Customer Service - 4/5 - After the mic quit, I sent an email to MEElectronics with my invoice and a description of my problem. I had an email with an RMA number within 24 hours. That's better service than almost anyone gives these days. Unfortunately, I will have to pay the cost of shipping the earphones in and I'll have to be without them while they are inspected or replaced or repaired. But that's a heck of a lot better than throwing them away and starting over. I might revise this rating once the customer service experience is complete. Hopefully, I'll revise it upward.
Accessories - 5/5 - with a variety of ear plug choices (I use the triple flange), and a pretty spiffy carrying case, they didn't cut corners on the accessories. Given the price, I'm more than pleased. Which brings me to ...
Price - 5/5 - Even given the mediocre ratings in a couple of categories, what you get for the price is phenomenal. These are amongst the very best ear canal buds I've used, and at a small fraction of the price of the upper end ones I've tried.
Overall Impressions - If I could, I'd make a couple small changes to this product - add a volume control, make the track control a little easier to use, maybe put a more robust mic in (or maybe I just got a dud - it happens, so unless this is a recurring problem, I'm not tempted to ding them for it). But given the price point and the overwhelming positives in so many other areas, I can't see how I could rate this product below a 4/5 (I would give it 4.5/5 if that were an option). Especially since I do go through earbuds at a alarming rate (at least one new pair per year), having something of this overall quality at this price point is pretty fantastic. I've seen a lot of positive hype about MEElectronics on the review sites. I'd have to say that so far as I can tell, it's well deserved.
Also, I expected it to do more but all this set will allow you to do is switch between taking a call and going back to your music. Does not control volume, etc. I guess I misread something.
Also the ear pieces looked like they would stay in because of the way they are shaped. But they don't. They are very flimsy and fall around. But mainly the quality of the sound is just really bad so that even if these were free, I wouldn't use them.
Just a side note: someone had said you couldn't turn them down low enough. I didn't have that problem. They seemed to work on low volume and I was able to turn them low so that they were barely on. So that just may have been an issue with that reviewer's phone.
For now, I will continue to use my Sony earphones Sony MDR-AS20J Active Style Headphones with Soft Loop Hangers - Black(which don't have a mic) and use my phone's speaker for talking until I can find something better. Those earphones are comfortable, stay on, aren't like usual bud type, i.e., you don't need to stick them in your ear deeply and the quality of sound is really good.
