Meguiar’s sophisticated Hybrid Ceramic chemistry makes this product as easy to apply as an ordinary liquid wax! Engineered to be applied by either hand or dual action variable speed polisher (DA polisher), this formula produces a slick, protective, water beading layer that seals your paint from the environment. And it may be used on chrome & plastic trim, or as a top coat over traditional waxes & sealants, too!

How to prepare the vehicle’s paint before waxing
For best results with Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax, start with a freshly washed vehicle. Always use a pH balanced car wash soap like Meguiar’s Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner.Next, run your clean, dry fingertips over the paint. If the paint feels rough to the touch, this indicates that you have bonded contaminants on top of your paint. These are things like tree sap mist, industrial fallout, road tar, and paint overspray. Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay Kit comes with everything you need to safely remove contaminants bonded on the paint and leave it as smooth as glass. Finally, evaluate the paint for below surface defects. If you have light to moderate swirls, scratches, oxidation, water spots, or etchings you would want to use a product like Meguiar’sUltimate Compound. From there, you would follow with a polish like Meguiar’s Ultimate Polish for maximum shine before applying your wax protection.
Applying Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax
- One of the biggest mistakes people make when applying a wax is that they apply it too heavily. This only prolongs drying time, makes the liquid wax more difficult to remove and causes you to use more product than necessary. For these reasons, always spread the wax as thin and evenly as possible while still getting full coverage over the paint.
- Shake product well.
- For best results, apply the Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax in the shade to a clean, cool surface one section at a time using two overlapping passes to ensure complete coverage.
- Allow 3-5 minutes of initial cure time before removing the liquid wax.
- Remove with a premium microfiber towel like Meguiar's Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel. Please be aware that low temperatures and/or high humidity can prolong the initial curing time. Also, Hybrid Ceramic Waxdoes not “haze” like traditional waxes.
- Continue until the entire paint surface has been sealed. Not recommended for use on glass.

You need maybe about 3 dime sized dots on an applicator pad, this seems to be enough for an entire panel. You can apply in either circular or hash, it really doesn't matter. I applied it circular. It goes on smooth and easy. But not quite as easy as something like Collinite 845, but it's no issue. I did one panel, moved onto the next, then started removing the previous panel.
This is where it gets a little interesting, this does not haze like other waxes or sealants. It actually dries about 80% clear. I'd knock a half star off because on my silver impreza, it was extremely hard to see where I have applied! This is probably why they suggest you do one panel at a time and not the entire vehicle. It might not be an issue on darker colors so YRMV. Otherwise, the actual removal with a microfiber is one of the easiest on the market.
The water beading is great, I would say it's 90% close to something like Fusso Coat which is legendary for it's water repelling ability. For those wondering why care about water beading, it's just an easy INDICATOR to see if there is still product on the paint over time. It also makes it easier to dry as the surface tension is higher. Also I suppose this is more theoretical, but a higher surface tension means higher ability to deflect dirt and grime.
Can't comment on this since it's only been applied for a couple of days. Meguiars on their forum also does suggest a 24 hour cure before getting it wet or washing it. And I'm not a fan of the chemical tests as it's not a real world indicator of durability to me. But if this is the same as the blue HCW spray version, it should get a minimum of 3 months and up to 6 months of solid performance.
The Gloss is amazing, it bumped up my already polished impreza just up another notch. Of course you would think it's just Placebo as I told myself the same thing. But at least to my eyes it seems glossier.
This is also where it gets interesting, so Meguiars have another product called Ceramic Detailer you can use in between washes and boost the performance to extend it. OR you can use the original blue spray and rinse HCW. Going that method I think will make this last for more than 6 months since that's pretty much like re-applying full strength again. At that point it's going to be hard to tell when the original base layer of this Ceramic wax would have failed.
All in all I'm very happy with this. It's enjoyable to work with, looks and performs great. I'm only knocking off a half star because it doesn't haze after application. The price seemed high at first until you start looking at other liquid ceramic waxes on the market. It's either the same or under those, so the value is there if that's what you're looking for.
I dreaded the though of slathering it on, then buffing it until my arms were about to fall off. Plus all the white crusty crumbly bits scattered everywhere from the aftermath, and stained black trim you have to sand off, the list goes on and on!
This wax is different... it was actually more difficult to apply than it was to remove. It's very thick and buttery, and gives a good amount of resistance as you're rubbing it into the paint. I applied it to two or three panels before going back to buff it off. With a dry microfiber there is a slight tugging resistance when buffing it off, but after two to three wipes it becomes smooth and easy to further buff the panel.
It doesn't dry white like your typical carnauba wax so it's difficult to see if you've missed any areas that still need buffing, but on the plus side, and this is a HUGE plus, you don't have to worry about that time you nicked the plastic trim with the applicator! No more glaring white stain marks to worry about anywhere!
Once I discovered how forgiving this wax was, I was able to kick it into high gear and get the truck done a lot faster without needing surgical precision when applying it.
I was able to get away with using a dollop on the applicator per panel, and in the end I still had over 75% of the bottle left, definitely worth the price, I may never need to purchase another bottle in my life.
I didn't intentionally apply it to plastic trim or glass, but I did apply it to the paint, tail lights, and headlights, they all turned out great. Honestly I think this is as good as my truck will ever look, I made a point to take as many photos as I could to remember this glorious day.
I've attached a few to this review.
(keep in mind that before waxing, I did use a DA polisher with Meguiar's Ultra Finishing Polish to prep the paint)
I'll add a few photos. The Corvette plant added a new state-of-the-art paint system for 2019 and that's a factor, but I'm still impressed with the mirror like gloss. In general, I never used a Meguiar's product that didn't satisfy (their "Cleaner Wax" is to me an essential product to have in the arsenal to clean up vehicles that get heavy use or live outside), and this one might rank at the top.
