The one problem I have is that they wear a little easy. I do constantly rub them on towels to keep the grit clean, and am very careful when I sand with them, so I do not melt/tear the grit. Turners need to be conscious they are not burning the grit off, as well, as I did quite easily.
TL;DR Just be careful with them and they will do you well!
I was working on a commissioned model for a client. The cockpit of the plane had a seam right down the middle of the canopy.
I began by using the edge of my hobby knife to carefully remove the raised bit of mold line from the canopy. Then, I began wet sanding the line. By this time, the canopy was completely scratched up and almost opaque. I then began the polishing process with these pads. I started about halfway through the pads and worked my way up to the 12,000 grit. I wet sanded the whole time. The result was a clear piece of plastic with no visible signs of there ever being a mold line. I coated the canopy in some Future polish and was done. It looked great. I cannot recommend these enough.
I purchased these for pen finishing with wood turning projects and they are AWESOME! At first, while finishing acrylic projects or CA covered pens, as I was working my way through the different grits I was thinking "These aren't working." Then, like magic, as I got to the upper three grits it , they made my pens sparkle and shine. Truly awesome. My advice is don't get lazy. Don't cut out any of the grits-work up them all. It results in a great finish with very little extra time.
I will say that they are sensitive. If you apply too much pressure, especially while sanding acrylic, they will get damaged resulting in damage to your underlying project.
For a step up sanding experience these are the best I've used.
