Top customer reviews
There are millions of recipes online, almost all of which are for manual mode anyway, which is easy to use on this unit, you just have more options if you want to experiment! The people that burned the rice and sent the unit back are really missing out.
It makes great rice! Just look online for "making rice in a pressure cooker" and you'll find lots of ways to do it, all different.
Buy a big bag at an Asian store and play around. One of our favorites now is to put a whole tomato on top of the rice before cooking, salt, pepper and a little chili, and then cook the rice normally or maybe with slightly less water, to account for the tomato.
Lots of programs, and does searing and yogurt. You can adjust both pressure level in 7 steps and program time in 3. Though, again, every single recipe online uses manual mode, You just don't use the programs that much.
Not sure how the unit actually adjusts the pressure as the pressure appears to be controlled by the weight on top, as on a stove top unit, but probably by changing the heat applied a little. The program time adjustment is called ' texture'. Just ignore both the pressure and texture adjustments if you are just starting out.
Automatically goes to keep warm mode after cooking and it tells you how many hours it has been warming, 0H, 1H 2H etc. Some people thought the 0H meant 'on heat', but it really is counting hours of 'keep warm' time. Has delay set and nice stainless inner pot. Lid is really easy to put on and off.
Nice solid, weighty 'quality ' feel to the unit. Only real quibble is that it does not display the cook time that a program is setting, you have to look in the booklet, and yes, the booklet is a little confusing and it's Chinglish, but you don't need it, except to tell you what the programs are doing, and yes, then it is a little opaque. Seems like a lot of the programs do essentially the same thing, and it would be great if the manufacturer would tell you a lot more. There were some reviews from Chinese speaking folks that said the Chinese instructions were not much better.
Oh, it does not sing or talk to you like the more expensive Korean and Japanese units, it just beeps. My wife likes the units that sing, but she likes the price and rounded cube styling on this one!
It is VERY quiet, barely know it is on, easy to clean and pressure release button is away from where the steam comes out, and works nicely.
The web site of the people who wrote this book is a great place to get cooking times:

Oh, people always ask if you can "can" in this unit. The answer is NO, you can not safely "can" in any residential electric pressure cooker. You need a big manual stove top unit to do it safely.
