Live is trying to open the front door to the grocery store when Dalton walks up and sees her crying because she can't get the door open. Dalton helps her get the door open after she tells him about her grandmother Ruby's death. Luv looks at Dalton and thinks he is the best looking guy she has ever screen.
Will they let each other know how they feel? Well if you want that answer pick this book up for a good read.
Meanwhile, there's a new girl in town, Liv (or Olive). Her grandmother ran the small general store, and has recently passed away and left it to Liv. She's a city girl from Chicago, but has recently lost her job, so she decides to try to make a go of it running grandma's store, at least until she gets things figured out. She is beautiful – petite “with dark brown skin and shoulder length ebony hair with green eyes that shone like emeralds.” When Dalton comes into the store, he is totally taken with her immediately. He wants to ask her on a date right then and there, but chickens out. Once he gets home, he can't stop thinking about her and decides to go back the next day and ask her out. That wouldn't normally seem unusual, but Dalton hasn't taken a girl out on a date since high school, even though every girl in the county has been pursuing him. And Liv, for her part, is also quite taken with Dalton.
Really? All of a sudden, one stranger shows up, and Dalton throws his whole past behind and decides to go for it? Just way too unlikely to me. And Liv, who also hasn't dated much, is totally smitten by this man she knows nothing about? Ok, I'm female. Those kinds of things happen. But it just seemed like it maybe should have built up over a few weeks.
Everything that happens from that point on is too much, too fast, too unrealistic. There's a hot sex scene and a graphic fight thrown in, and then the book is over?
The whole thing, to me, was like the opening chapters, maybe an outline, for what could have been developed into a good story with a nice HEA. But it was just way too rushed with not enough of a story-line to make it believable. There were also quite a few editing errors in this story that made it frustrating to read. Too bad because it has good potential. Hopefully with a little more practice, this author could turn into a good writer.
Oh just an FYI - this story is about an interracial romance, so if that is not something you're comfortable with, you should probably pass this one up.
