What's more, it's just plain fun to read and the plot twist at the end will leave you laughing out loud at the justice meted out to the bad guy.
As I was reading it I kept thinking of other favorite authors who write with similar wit--Timothy Hallinan, Lawrence Block, and Donald Westlake. If you like their books I guarantee you'll love Missing Amanda. I was enjoying myself so much I read it straight through--completely forgetting my role as editor--forcing me to read it again just to catch a few minor mistakes.
the title puzzled me, until I got a bit further along in the story, then it made sense. Set in the late 1950s, the story
will give some readers a glimpse of that era; it may trigger (no pun intended) memories for others. Mr. Lindsay
filled the book with quirky characters whose humorous banter was wildly entertaining. He did a great job
blending real people, places and events with the antics of Lou, Monk and Cassidy, which truly enhances the tale.
If you're like me and appreciate witty quips and sarcasm you won't be disappointed. In my opinion there was too much fighting and it was a bit repetitive. I'm sure some folks will disagree and say it added to the excitement...different strokes, etc. But that's the reason I didn't give Missing Amanda 5 stars.
