MLB 15 The Show also features major graphical improvements. Enhanced stadium lighting, Improved gloss and specular, resulting in more natural lighting on players. Seasonal day/night transitions have also been added into the world of The Show. (PS4 Only)
And the improvements aren’t all animations and graphics. The game itself has gotten deeper with more ways to play, earn rewards, and put together a Hall of Fame career.
Best of all, Universal rewards will mean that all of that gameplay earns Stubs that can be spent on licensed equipment, Road to The Show improvements, and virtual baseball cards. First off, let me say that I personally think that 98% of next/current gen games underperform when it comes to graphics, and although this game is obviously better than it's PS3 counterpart, I do believe the graphics could be more realistic, texture especially skin texture is still a big area that needs to be worked on.
As far as the game play itself, I have to say that overall it is very good. The mechanics and movement of the players is better than I have seen in an MLB game. I have seen everything from acrobatic catches to pitchers getting dropped by a ball hit right back at them and the realistic things that happen in this game make it a true joy to play.
Currently I am playing Road to the Show mode. I do have to say that at times it seems like the game is scripted, and some situations/games just seem to be unwinnable no matter what you do. This has proven to be a bit frustrating, especially when your player suddenly can't hit anything and you go 0 for 5 for several games in a row, even though your average is in the .400's
In the end, I would definitely recommend this game, even with the frustrations that it has caused, I assume those are programmed in to make the game seem more realistic as sometimes no matter how hard you try, nothing seems to go your way. And this game truly is entertaining and the replayability is extremely high, and in the end, isn't that the whole point of a game?
The main reason why I didn't give 5 stars is I feel there is a lack of personality within the game, especially with Road to the Show. They've upgraded the experience in the minors quite well, but there's almost no interaction with your character. I love how in the NBA 2k series you can make decisions off the court that then go on to alter your characters experience within the game (ie. Night out with teammates after a win, signing sponorship deals etc).
Also, I HATE how you can buy those stubs to get more money for franchise mode or better stats for RTTS. I feel like you should have to EARN it! Sure unlocking stuff might be cool but still it's dumb.
My favorite feature of the game is that you can now have your name on RTTS rather than just "now batting / pitching # .....". Way cool!
Overall I love this game. I just hope as editions progress that we get more interaction with our players.

The game modes have been modified, streamlined and upgraded. I have found the user interface to be very intuitive. Having not played The Show for a few years (I had a XBOX 360), I was surprised with how the attention to real life detail has increased. Shadows on the field move throughout a game and they shift around the field depending on what season (Spring, summer, fall) you are playing the game in; completely impressed.
The game is great. Highly recommended.
I do have a complaint about the pre-order: when we pre-ordered the game it had a PS4 Controller skin that was to come free with the purchase. This code ought to have been shipped within 48 hours to my email for me then to complete the purchase. This code has never arrived. I would like some feedback from whoever has handled this pre-order as to what to do to get this pre-ordered item. Thank you.
UPDATE: I played one more game after dropping it for a few weeks and had more of the same, here are two examples; one on, no one out, 2-0 count. Next pitch is a fastball down the middle, I'm sitting on it, timing is GOOD...infield pop-up. But this one takes it; man on first, and a 3-0 count, the next pitch is a fastball down the middle, which I lined into right field...the outfielder picks up the ball and throws my runner out at second. And the announcer says "now there's something you don't see every day". Inexplicably, the runner stopped between first and second, like he was trying to avoid getting hit by it. But it was over his head to begin with.
