The switch is very light, so it needs to be fastened down. There are tabs on the front and back to facilitate this. I find that a piece of one by six board adds enough weight to hold the switch in place, but is portable enough to let you move it from machine to machine. However, I would recommend buying a separate switch for every machine that you want to control. I am already considering getting one for my lathe, my drill press, and my sander. one year later: The air blower on my saw broke. I plugged a three way adapter into my Billy switch, plugged my saw in one socket, bought a cheap aquarium pump and plugged it into another socket leaving me with a free socket to add a Shop Vac for dust collection once I figure out a way to connect it up. This way both my blower and my saw come on and go off at the same time
I suffer from neuropathy and foot pain. This switch requires so little pressure to operate that I can work on my saw for many hours without any discomfort.
Not just safer but more convenient! Dremel + FlexShaft attachment + this switch is ergonomic bliss. I’ve also been missing out on my random orbit sander NOT running away off the end of my project all this time!
I zip tie the switch on the saw to the on position and use this product as the alternate switch to turn the saw on and off so I can use my hands (both of them) to guide steel through a cut. I tried doing without this product but that's too dangerous with a zip tied saw switch. Using the saw without the zip tie makes it unusable. Therefore this product is a must have for me.
I haven't used one of these before so it's taking me a bit to rid myself of old habits like having to manually turn off the saw before removing the work piece. But it'll come with practice.
I can see where this will be a great addition to the scroll saw setup. I may order a few more for other tools.
