String instrument wood needs moisture to play and look its best. Dry wood can warp, shrink and worse yet, crack! MusicNomad, the leader in equipment care products, has developed an easy to use, no mess and low maintenance instrument case humidifier, The Humitar. It safely releases moisture evenly to eliminate these potential problems. Works great for Acoustic Guitars, Electric Guitars, Semi Hollow Guitars, Mandolins, Cellos and other large case instruments. Our innovative Humid-i-Bar sponge holds a lot more water than our competition. This means less monitoring on your end while resting assured your fine instrument is being cared for. Time to check the Humitar? Easy! Pop the top, touch the insert; if it’s wet leave it, if it’s dry, it’s time to rehydrate. Rehydrating is a cinch – simply remove the Humid-i-Bar sponge, soak it in distilled water and you’re back in action – easy, no mess and low maintenance.

So when it wouldn't stay put in the case, i used a hair trimmer to clip away most of the fuzz/ cushion. That left a decent surface, i thought. It wasn't down to bare fabric (still Some fuzz), but i thought that should do it.
I've used the Velcro that came with it. I've detached the velcro and used the sticky surface underneath. When it got fuzzed up and non-sticky i out some fresh double-sided tape (both sides stick) on that surface.
I imagine i could lay on a lot of good old wood glue, enough to ooze through the fuzz to the fabric, and make it stick and stay put. But I've already compromised the case by modding (de-fuzzing) it this much.
Instead of velcro or tape, the maker maybe could use a simple mechanical system, with expandable arms that would push against the sides of the case and clamp the humidifier in place that way. Maybe.
But this system does not work. Coulda- Woulda, but no dice. So add this complaint to the list.
I also experienced that when the sponge is dry, it takes time, longer than a regular sponge, to begin soaking in water. Warm water seemed to accelerate this.
I think if I were to purchase another humidifier from this brand, I would their other version without the holster.
Placing the sponge-case in between the strings is another option, but it really stretches the two middle strings significantly. I wish the case was a little narrower to solve this problem. The sponge itself is narrow enough, but the sponge-case is too wide for that application.
I bought this to put it in the case, and without the sticky tape there is no way to hold it upright in the case.
Update - after using for a few days, and using only distilled water the sponge got moldy. Not sure how to avoid that, but disappointed that the mold appeared so quickly. It did seem to re-humidify my guitar, but I don't know that I want a moldy sponge inside the case
I am not a big fan of having humidifiers hanging from the strings. May be a personal prejudice, but the D'Addario reaches the bottom of all 4 acoustics which concerns me. The sponge in the Music Nomad seems to be of extreme high quality. Just remember, DISTILLED WATER only. You could reduce the effectiveness of the sponge due to calcium and other minerals making the sponge become prematurely useless.

My only complaint is the the humidifer doesn't really stick inside the case all that well. The velcro piece is pretty much useless but this problem can be dealt with pretty easily at least. It would probably work better in other cases.
Either way this product does actually work, its probably overpriced like most stuff this company sells but it does work as advertised so far. I've had no mold problems either, use distilled water and it should be fine.
