Howard Handwear Heating System -The Glove Doctor, Howard Rubin, succeeded in developing the 3rd generation handwear heating system through 15 years of research. The hand-shape heating pattern, using soft non-woven fabric as surface, is made of far infrared micro composite fiber. This heating pattern covers the whole palm side, all fingers and thumb, allowing heat transferring from palm to back of hand. This design can make your hands feel warm quickly, and pass heat to arms and the whole body, keeping you warm in cold conditions.
The patented heating composite fiber improves the heat pattern's bending resistance, corrosion resistance, heat conduction, and conversion from electricity into warmth. It also makes the heat pattern washable and antistatic.
The portable lithium batteries make heat output and lasting time much longer, and can be charged by the equipped 2-plug charger. This design optimizes the heating system for the most professional results.

The seller, Veranda Outdoors, has given extraordinary support throughout the return process. I cannot praise them highly enough. They even refunded the cost of return shipping, which their return policy doesn't obligate them to do.
These products would be great under ANY conditions except extreme cold (I'd guess 15°F or lower, although I haven't determined the exact threshold), and the vendor support is the best I've encountered yet in Amazon Marketplace.
I bought both the Mount Tec heated gloves and the Mount Tec heated mittens, and I had exactly the same experience with them both, so I'm leaving the same review for both products.
I hate not giving them a glowing review, because they're extremely well-made, very comfortable, and would work surprisingly well under moderate conditions, like driving a car. But I need something to keep my fingers and thumbs from getting so cold they hurt while clearing snow from my driveway. It's been snowing and right around 0°F with -20°F or lower wind-chill for a few days, so I had a chance to test them almost immediately, the mittens on Friday and the gloves on Saturday. They both failed.
The gloves (which were a snug fit because they didn't have Extra Large) felt especially good when I first put them on, because every finger, including the thumb, was shrouded in soft, toasty heat all the way to the tip, which felt WONDERFUL! I was sure they were going to be my snow-blowing lifesavers, but within 5 minutes in the cold wind I couldn't detect any heat AT ALL even though it was on the highest setting. My fingers were so cold and painful that I had to abandon my snowblower and run inside for unheated mittens plus chemical hand-warming pads (HotHands, etc, which I'm also trying for the first time), which worked great. The Mount Tec mittens also felt great and were well-heated (including the thumbs) while I was indoors, but they couldn't deal with extreme cold any better than the gloves did.
I wish I could say I love these beautifully designed and manufactured Mount Tec products, but they just can't deal with the extreme conditions I need help with, so I returned them.
Either way, I like to ride my motorcycle on milder and dry days throughout the winter, and with these gloves I have the peace of mind that I will not freeze my fingers off on the way home, even if it gets a little late and temps might fall into the 20ies.
I don't think a controller is necessary, but they can get a little warm. I have used liners, which mitigates this a little bit.
They are large enough for me (compared to other gloves that I bought and that were tight). The material is soft and I have good control of the grips. They are long enough to safely cover the sleeves of my jacket so that water does not run up my arms when it rains.
The harness was easy enough to install. I connected it directly to the battery and installed the connector with the supplied zip ties under the seat, on the opposite side of where the battery tender hookup is.
The mitts themselves are very high quality and quite warm even without the heat turned on. On warmer days I use them without the heat.
