SUPPORTING THE FASTEST CPU AND MEMORY CONFIGURATIONS ON THE PLANET

With support for Intel's 3rd Generation Core family of processors, the Z77 MPower begs for the best of the best.

It is optimized for use with K-series unlocked CPUs, and when paired with 22nm Intel processors, a total of 32GB of DDR3 memory are supported up to 3000MHz under overclocking.

The Z77 MPower also features an industry-first 24 hour factory burn-in test using Prime95 under heavy CPU overclocking conditions.

This allows the Z77 MPower to be tested under strenuous conditions before shipping to the public, ensuring maximum performance and stability.

OPTIMIZED FOR PERFORMANCE

It is no secret the Z77 MPower looks familiar. Drawing from the lineage of our award-winning Lightning graphics cards, the Z77 MPower is designed from the ground up to be pushed beyond the typical performance barrier.

With a matte black PCB that is 50% thicker than standard configurations, the Z77 MPower can pushes what is possible multi-GPU performance and overclocking. The optimized layout also ensures proper airflow, even when using non-reference cooling solutions on graphics cards.

Z77_MPower-2
OPTIMIZED THERMAL DESIGN: LOW AIRFLOW HEATSINK, SUPERPIPE

With most performance CPUs chilled via water cooling systems today, the Z77 MPower features a heatsink design that meets this need.

The power system on the board is cooled via oversized heatsinks that can efficiently dissipate heat under little/no airflow conditions, and the heatsinks feature a striking yellow accent from our Lightning series of video cards.

The heatsinks also incorporate our SuperPipe design. Found on our most high end graphics card thermal solution, Twin Frozr, the 8mm SuperPipe is the largest heatpipe design found on any motherboard on the market.

This provides an aggressive feel that allows the Z77 MPower to not only have the visual appeal, but to have the thermal performance to back up the looks.

Z77_MPower-3
ENHANCED POWER DESIGN: 6-PIN PCI-E POWER PLUG, V-CHECK POINTS, DEBUG LED

The Z77 MPower provides a 6-pin PCI-E plug for improved power delivery to the PCI-E slots.

This is especially useful for multi-GPU overclocking configurations, and provides extra power for PCI-E devices.

The V-Check points allow usage of a multimeter to monitor board voltages, ensuring stable and accurate overclocking under any condition.

The Debug LED also provides visual readout of system status, so problems can be quickly diagnosed at system startup. After boot, the LED displays the CPU temperature in real time.

Z77_MPower-4
TOTAL SYSTEM CONTROL: CLICKBIOS II, GO2BIOS, MULTI BIOS II, TOTAL FAN CONTROL

Not to leave out software control, the Z77 MPower features our revolutionary ClickBIOS II graphical UEFI. To provide a better BIOS experience, we've implemented the Go2BIOS button that allows direct booting to ClickBIOS II under any system state with the push of a button.

In addition, the Z77 MPower is equipped with two BIOS chips on board that is easily selected via a switch on the PCB. Blue/green LED lights show which BIOS chip is in active use.

Lastly, the Z77 MPower features a complete 4-pin PWM fan header design, allowing users to adjust system fan speed via BIOS or our desktop software suite, eliminating the need for third party or case fan controls.

internal power button, OC GENE button (located on the top right of board)
1 front audio/mic header

The only complaint that that I have is about the sata. I wish there was more sata3 6gb/s ports. This mother is great and works just fine. Updating drivers, bios, and utilities is a breeze if you use the live update option. The most important features to me is the 4 PWM fan headers. The 4 PWM headers are customizable either through the UEFI bios or the in windows application called CLICKBIOS2. The first two system fan headers have an auto option plus 50,60,70,80,90, and 100% fan speed options.

I won't pretend to know the technical specifics of the main over-clocking features of this motherboard, but I will mention the reasons why I got this particular mobo. This mobo appealed to me mainly because of the integrated wireless card, default OC feature and overall sharp look from a reputable brand such as MSI. I am using this board with a i7 3770k 3.5 base quad core intel along with 4 dimm 16 gig corsair vengence DDR3 and a gtx 670 gigabyte non-reference video card and so far, everything has been working as intended. The wireless card actually has great capacity along with reception when used with the cord extension antenna that I've placed on top of my case. The strong reception, the incredibly user friendly bios and OS MSI user control center for either on board or software activated overclocking is very easy to use. I've even activated their iOS app on my iphone to wirelessly interact with the control center software.

Only draw back is that if you want to overclock outside of the OC genie, I've run into some video problems which I haven't taken the time to investigate; just anything past the default OC genie overclocking, you won't get as seemless of a function, but meh, not a big deal.

Purchased this motherboard for a new PC build. I liked the fact that it doesn't have a huge amount of features that I will never use. One feature I really appreciate is the 5 on board fan headers - all of which are 4-pin. Aesthetically the board is nice to look at without a ton of gaudy colors or graphics. The area around the CPU socket is pretty clear so most large CPU coolers should fit no problem. I use a Corsair H100 water cooling system for the CPU and I had no clearance issues. The only "Con" I can think of is I would have preferred an Intel Gigabit network chip but the on board Realtek chip works fine.

I'll update this review in the future if I experience any issues with this board.

I havent used MSI for a while, but I'm a beliver again.
I tried a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H and a Asus p8z77vpro, pretty good quality boards I thought. The gigabyte bites, after having the whole system ready to go I fired up the system and had fans but nothing else. Long story later,I ripped it all apart and got to the cpu socket and saw some contacts in the socket broken. OMG. Thx amazon for the return.
The Asus after getting it 3/4 built, was giving memory errors. Long story later, it would only take DDR3 in the two far away sockets toward edge of board, so no dual channel. Then had a dead PCIe slot too. So would have been a nice board if it worked. Btw, someone on the Egg site had the same memory problem (Amazon has taken my business w better delivery & price)Amz returned it also thx.
Finally the MSI, this time I built it outside the case, can you blame me? Didn't need to worry, fired right up, has great reset/power on and OC buttons right on the board. Auto update feature actually worked for drivers, bios etc. Have not had time to really push it hard yet but so far, it ROCKS and Stable.
The Build: (every component is excellent)
