This board is amazing in many ways except one.

Pros: Click Bios is awesome, even shows you the CPU temperature! and no more clunky bios stuff of the past. Automatic CPU overclock. Easy to build (I bought the CPU separate and installed it in this board, very easy and instructions were helpful and clear). Good-looking board (the colors and lay-out is cool). So far it's durable and quite (owned about 10 months now). Comes with drivers installation disk.

Con: (only one Con) BIOS does not save boot order. If you ever feel like booting up from a specific device every time you can FORGET IT just like this board does. Want to boot from your CD-rom every time instead of your hard drive? NOPE. You'll have to press F11 every time it boots and manually select the correct device. I've read other reviews for this product and I am not the only one who had this problem so I know its not just me. AND we have gone to MSI website to download the latest drives and still NO BUENO.

Overall very happy with this board, I would buy it again or recommend it.
If MSI updates this with a fix, I will give 5 stars.

Great board but will cheat you out of a rebate.

Great board, very stable, wouldn't boot from CD or recognize my usb keyboard until I updated the BIOS. The BIOS was several revisions out of date, but no problems flashing new ones from a flash drive.

Not related to the performance of the motherboard, but this order was eligible for a $10 rebate, and MSI is denying it stating that they did not receive an invoice. They helpfully provide a scanned image of everything they received, including the envelope. That scanned image clearly shows the invoice that was included with the rebate form and label from the box. No reply yet to my email questioning them (11/14/13).

Update 11/27/13: MSI still has not bothered to reply to my emails concerning the rebate. I can only assume they never intended to honor it. The board is still working fine, but I can't recommend MSI as a brand anymore since they will not honor the rebate offer.

Let me start off by saying the board looks and feels of quality and was easy to install.

After an hour or two of getting my PC disassembled and installing the Mobo before the back plate cover (oops!) I finally got it to a state to where I could test her out. Good so far, then after Bios my windows goes into some BootLoop frenzy. (It was not a fresh install of OS and old drivers I believe were the issue, both mobo's were MSI)

Now being the next day and a couple hours of trying to get it to work It so far has been very spunky in boot times, and is reading everything correctly (temperature,ram,gpu,etc.) It also got my huge 120mm CPU heatsink off my GPU which I am happy about.

Im not sure what else to say at this time, so far so good? Now I can start some performance upgrades with higher RAM speeds and a PCIE 3.0 card.

I'm usually an ASUS MoBo builder, but have tried 2 MSI boards in my last two builds (this one included). This board is straightforward, has plenty of ports for everything, and just works. I should note that I'm not an overclocker - so nothing in that vein was tested. I am hard on a machine though, using it for 3D modeling and animation (long render sessions), audio recording and editing, video editing, and some modern gaming. What it does do perfectly is handle an SSD via SATA 6gb/s, another SATA HD via SATA 6gb/s, and 2 more HD's via USB 3.0. eSATA works while all of these things are humming along at full speed. No real tweaks needed in the GUI BIOS (love it by the way) in the build. While this is simply doing what the board states that it will do, it is something that many ASUS boards seem to struggle with. Note that while these technologies (USB 3.0, eSATA, SATA 6Gb/s) are still being refined, it's about time that all of it can run together without conflict.

I would (and probably will) use this mobo again in an upcoming build. Nicely priced for what you get with your investment.

Unless you are the type of hobbyist who wants the maximum overclocking possible, this board is the perfect combination of price and performance for the serious gamer. The layout makes installation a breeze, and installing a custom cooling solution should not present a problem in at least 90 percent of installations.

The bios is intuitive, and included software utilities are easy to use. Even the manual is pretty straightforward. All board connections are easy to make, and the layout is such that cable routing is extremely simple and effective.

Overclocking can either be done automagically, through MSI's OC Genie tool, or you can adjust just about every setting you'd like. I'm not an overclocker, so the OC Genie was just fine for me (and you don't even have to do that, if you'd rather keep your setup vanilla.

All in all, while you can certainly spend more, if you want an excellent ATX form factor motherboard, the MSI Z77A-G45 is a stellar choice.

1st go around with this new build...after frustrating 1.5 hours to trace a NOGO boot (shorted power supply to check electrical, checked connections, etc.) determined the MOBO was bad. Asked for RMA and Amazon did a 1 day turnaround with replacement. Now, great BIOS interface, a weird bulge on the back connectors (not a problem, just strange)...all good.

Pretty good mid level board

I've always used MSI boards in my builds and have never had a problem. This board however was the first. The performance is great and I like the new bios menu. The problem with this board is the onboard sound. Very crackly, volume always going up and down and balance back and forth. I've always used the onboard sound on past boards without issue. In this case I had to buy a PCI sound card which fixed the problem, but added an unnecessary $35 to the build. Other than that it does everything else as advertised.
