MSI makes really amazing GPU's for the price. I just picked this up at my local electronics store because it had a really amazing price with the mail in rebate, so I couldn't resist. I could not be happier. It is slightly overclocked right out of the box (920/1050 instead of 900/1050) and I managed to get it up to 980/1150 without adjusting the voltage. With fans constantly spinning at 50%, I get 70-90 FPS in BC2 @ Maxed settings with AFx16 and AAx2. I can't even hear the GPU with fans at 50% but at 50% the card runs much cooler than at 30%.
This card runs extremely cool! Mine always stays below 60 degrees in BC2 even while overclocked. In Crysis, I stay below 65 degrees.
I am extremely happy with the product and will be picking up a second one within a year and running them in Crossfire. CF 6870's outperform a single 6970 by quite a bit!
MSI has a really nice RMA system and they honor their warranty. They also honor their mail-in rebates, even though they take a little longer than I would like. This GPU has 3 years warranty with MSI.
I highly recommend this card to anyone looking for a great deal on a low-tier high end GPU.
I've been very pleased. Generally runs at Windows 7 7.8 to 7.9 on the benchmarks without needing any tweaking. It is also very cool. Ever since I had a motherboard die with exploding capacitors, I've been very aware of temperature issues.
Takes up two slots, very quiet (even with the case off, as we ran some tests before putting the case back on), the heat sink materials weigh enough I cut a piece of wooden dowel to support it in the case, just to be secure. But the card seems to run quieter than the Antec powersupply. It was kind of fun to realize just how quiet it is.
The price is competitive, the speed and resolution slightly better than the reference set, the cost is very competitive, I'm not sure how I would cross-fire this one (guess I'll need a new motherboard if I ever need the additional graphics power), came with cables and tabs and in a box that was very, very well put together. Will I get the ten years use advertised? I can't imagine the card staying current for that long, but it is solid enough that I would not doubt the promised lifespan.
Took off the entire heatsink to see if anything was broken or something and I come to find that it had no thermal paste almost at all. It did look like pretty crappy quality thermal paste what little there was on it so i washed it off and applied my own thermal paste job with some high grade thermal paste and my tempts instantly shot down. Idling at 30c and getting 60c under load like it was suppose too.
Was afraid i hate bought a faulty product but with a little bit of finicking around with it you can fix it and not have to send it back for another with the same problems.

I haven't thrown too much demanding stuff at this card yet. I mainly play strategy (mostly Total War) and it handles it like a champ. It's not much louder than my case fans.Published on March 30, 2012 by Sccrxxvi
