Also for those who don't know. If the battery symbol says your battery isn't charging, that's because MSI's battery don't charge unless they're under 95%.
+Cheap gaming laptop with great performance when plugged in (I'm able to run Skyrim + mods at steady 60 fps with all settings except shadows maxed out)
+Steel series keyboard (Very nice keyboard,it's customizable light up is a good plus too)
+Non-glare screen (useful when under sunlight)
+lightweight for a 17.3 laptop
-Windows 8 (stop forcing it on us Microsoft)
-Beware playing on battery as it cuts gaming performance by half
-Glossy finish is a fingerprint magnet
-Only one fan on the left side which might make your left hand sweat
I'll try to keep my experience updated over the months.
So far I am satisfied with this laptop. I'm able to play modern games like Battlefield 4 and Titanfall at medium-high settings and have 60 FPS, although you should expect some framerate drops during graphics-heavy events like explosions and intense lights. The only problem with this laptop so far is heat. The CPU in this laptop often reaches +90C when gaming even with Cooler Boost and a cooling pad. I use Power Saver mode to lower the temp by about 10C but it's still a worrying temp. For those complaining about how the trackpad functions in awkward ways, turn off tapping and edge swipe in the Elan SmartPad options.
Another thing is as I had a clean install I had to buy a windows 8.1 product key because I couldn`t find it anywhere on the box or on the laptop, so $119.00 dollars lost for nothing.
Other than that the laptop does what is on the reviews. It is a beast very quick and powerful. Yeah the heat but come on that is not a big deal, buy a keyboard and mouse to play :)
I wish someone from xoptic or msi would give me an answer for the drivers and for windows key.
One thing I didn't like was the hard drive. It makes this system much slower than it needs to be. I just switched to a SSD and now it screams. The switch gave me a major boost in performance and it was easy to do.
