System is so quiet now -- I wish I'd bought this sooner!

I didn't realize how much a noisy computer had been stressing me out until a few months ago, so I tried swapping my case, power supply, and CPU heatsink/fan to try and fix the problem, because I wasn't ready yet to upgrade my CPU/motherboard and video card. The noise level did not appreciably go down in my system, although it did get a noticeably cooler. Convinced after that the my old eVGA GeForce GTX 460 was really the main culprit for noise, I finally broke down and bought the MSI GTX 960 GAMING 2G ahead of my planned upgrade timeline.

I can't tell you how much I wish I had bought this card or one like it so much earlier. My computer is nearly silent now, and the MSI's GPU fan doesn't even turn on most of the time I'm using it (there's a sticker on the device notifying the user that this is expected) because its idle/2D temperatures are so low. The eVGA card was like a jet engine in my system that I tolerated for so many years, but now that I have reclaimed the silence in my room I will never, ever go back to a noisy card. Any number of other reviews can talk about how much more powerful the card is than previous generations (that's easy, it was a large upgrade for me and games are of course much smoother now) or even contemporary cards, but for me the highlight was the acoustic performance of the card, and I was NOT disappointed.

Works better than I expected. Installed into a PC with a ASUS Rampage Gene II, with an i7 960 processor, replacing an older video card. I have another PC with a Rampage Gene III Extreme with an i7 980 processor with a HD 7970 card installed. This GTX 960 benchmarks almost a high as the HD 7970, In some areas it might even be faster. I purchased this GTX 960 as I was looking for a good card that did not require a large power supply. I am surprised how fast and smooth this card is. I am not running the overclock utility, whatever it defaulted at seems to work great. I ran a series of 3D Mark 2013 with no glitches at all. I do not run super high resolution however, I read you might need more than the 2 GBs of memory these cards come with so if you run really high resolution, you probably need to read the hardware reviews..

Really excellent card, quite under stress (BF4 ultra 1080p 60fps steady, Shadow of Mordor High 1080p with a few drops but never under 55fps), the fan only turn on when it needs to if the GPU is cool the fan turn off to reduce the watts consumption. It has an MSI white led on the side which you can control with a driver (breathing, pulse and double pulse) and also the gforce experience has a Led controller with more options for those who wants more. Easy to install really pretty and big, really close to my HDD bay on my Cooler Master HAF 912 (you can get more space by removing the bay but I didn't needed it). For 1080p its really great, didn't try downscaling because i have read a lot of people saying that this card doesn't go well in 4k but when i try i will post it on here

This Graphics card is so freakin awesome! especially for the price. I can almost play any game at max, 1080p, around 60fps, of course, if you are looking for higher framerates, resolution, and more graphically, demanding games, you may need to get a more powerful card. This GPU doesn't exactly have the most VRAM there is... The COOLING on this thing is great, silent and effective. The fans don't spin when they don't need to, so there is virtually no noise. Even when they spin, it is still very quiet compared to some other cards. Additionally, the SOFTWARE that comes with the card is great! I use afterburner all the time to monitor temps and perform stress tests, but haven't got to overclocing yet... (ima kinda a newbie to overclocking) Overall, this card looks great and performs great! LOVE the dragon LEDs as well.

I bought the MSI Gaming 5 board and this MSI graphic card together off Amazon. The motherboard came with rattling heat sink but I installed it anyway. System works fine but the graphic signal would switch between on board and pci-e after restart. No idea why. So after 1.5 years of use, the MSI mobo finally gave up on me. So I went a head and bought an ASUS board instead thinking the earlier issue may be board related. Nope! the same damn thing happens to the graphic signal. So now I am certain the GPU has a fault. But problem is when its working, the pc works fine. Just the occasional pc freeze possibly because the GPU just shut down in the middle of being used. But nothing like pressing the reset switch wouldn't fix.

So I am kinda lost with this one. What is on with the GPU? I reseated the damn thing so many times and still the same issue. I wish it would just die and I can go ahead buy a new GPU (but not MSI this time cos I have had enough with MSI products) Looks good but that's about it.

I have set the board BIOS to PCI-E for graphic setting but when ever the PC wouldn't recognise the MSI graphic card, it would switch to the on-board and the PCI-E setting in the BIOS goes back to Auto. Problem is I have to unplug my HDMi cable from the MSI graphic card to the on board HDMi port in order to use the pc. Not a huge problem but after paying so much money for these MSI products you would expect them to work.

Anyway, the problem is still there and I am just wondering if anyone out there using the MSI graphic card has similar issue.

Had the parts a few days and finally built my system last night. This Card is HUGE but thats not necessarily a bad thing. It does come to the end of my drive bays but unless you have 10 harddrives, you'll be ok just use a lower bay. The Two giant fans are silent and i ended up capping off my fps in cs go at 300 without any problem. My only Complaint is that with my purchase, i should have recived an email by now to claim Batman: Arkham Knight but i haven't heard anything. Will continue to wait and update if anything changes.

Good for the price I paid. Got it on sale and it came with a new game. Most people will say not to buy this and get a 970 but I dont play very demanding games and I play on a 1080p monitor. The 970 is better, and its a great buy but you are paying for the difference. Perhaps if i switch to that 1440p curved monitor I want, I may decide to upgrade.
