as for the board itself, easy to work with, has clear cmos jumper in the HARDEST PLACE ive ever had to get to (besides the b450I gaming plus ac which was in between the wifi module at the rear i.o.) to solve this issue i took out a reset button from an old case ill never use again and installed that onto the cmos jumper so i can clear the bios if i need to as i DONT want or wish to remove my vertical mounted gpu if that time comes! also has EZ debug leds which will easy help you figure out what the issue is rather its ram, cpu, video etc, (notes to consider when overclocking ram sometimes youll push Fclk to far and itll say its the cpu which is correct as your ram can do what your asking but the CPU cant keep up). has wifi 6, 2 m.2 slots 1 gen 4 1 gen3, (if your not using a gen 4 ssd you WILL NOT notice any differences whatsoever!
Has more than enough fan headers to which i would have rather had 5 HYBRID headers (pwn, pump,dc headers) rather than 8 headers all together (1 cpu 4pin 1 pump 4pin, 6 system header) for some aio/water pumps it wont matter what header you use but for some it does as some are PWM only OR DC ONLY, so this will sometimes matter but its not to big of a deal.
the VRM on this board for what this board is shooting towards (audience) is EXTREMELY WELL DONE! has more than enough to run even a 16 core chip (if overclocking this chip id run a fan on the vrm as i would ANY board for that matter) but for most getting this board a 3600, 5600x even OVERCLOCKING these chips wont be a problem for this board its VERY WELL BUILT!
ram support on this thing is by far better than its bigger brother or should i say WIMPY SISTER? the x570 gaming edge wifi (vrm GARBAGE, ram overclocking (i got the same results on this board as i did with my others but was easier done on the b550 and less prone to overheating issues on the VRM) on the x570 version running the EXACT same EVERYTHING i am now i hit 80c on the VRM alone to where as this board hasnt seen over 38c. need i say more on that matter?
if your looking for a used board from amazon to which your unsure because it states used-good in my experiences if it has the original box included (most the time not always) its going to have all the extra goodies that comes with it and ive never had scratche on anything ive bought used good condition as well as ive been able to register for a warranty on the manufactures website.
conclusion as you can see in the pics this board is running fine with no thermal issues, no hiccups, even the bios it shipped with works for a 5600x out the box, i will say that i would only update to PATCH C bios and not use the beta version on MSI website as its not stable at all and locks out FCLK 2000 all together! LOOKING for a great board? THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT!!!!

THE GOOD: You get a pretty full suite of features for the money. Try to buy MSI certified memory that works on all processors you plan on using (will save oodles of hassles and $). Download their table of supported memory and filter out what you don't want using Excel. Follow the instructions for building and you should have no problems. Mine powered up easily after I corrected a power cable hookup to the video card (wire popped).
THE NOT-SO-GOOD: Some have had problems getting the full Internet card working (direct + WIFI). I recommend you buy an M2-NVME and download Windows 10 20H, burn to dvd and install that from scratch. That may help alleviate the problems. I also downloaded new firmware just in case. Have some USB memory sticks available.
Miscellaneous cautions: Take a good backup using Macrium Reflect before you start. Install your M2-NVME card first and do the other wiring to your case BEFORE you install the CPU and Memory. Much easier. Validate any SSD's and hard Drives are visible to the bios. You will prolly have to fiddle with it some to get it to boot in the order you want. The F7 toggle thing in the bios with the UEFI/CMS makes this a little more awkward, but I'd rather HAVE the options than not.
If you are going the Windows 10 PRO route and are NOT using the retail kit, you will have to get double Layer DVD's as the distro is too large to fit on regular DVD's (and it's NOT offered on USB). I had more problems with Microsoft installation than the actual board install.
Other: had to start with the 3600X as I just now got the new processor ( at a non crazy price). Too bad there is so much video board /CPU vaporware. Very pleased with this install.
Final Recommendation: It's a go, super fast. You can't go wrong for the $.

- Updating the BIOS was relatively easy
- Looks good
- There was a steam code promotion and it was a bit long/complicated to get the codes but it worked
- I was able to connect 2 NVMEs, 4 HDs and 2 SSDs, some motherboards don't support as many. It's common that when there are 2 NVMEs, some SATAs are disabled.
Cons :
- BIOS software is average, the UI design could be improved.
- I could not boot because I had not enabled legacy boot but the BIOS was not showing any error (aside from the LED on the motherboard)
- I could not see my NVME in the BIOS until I updated the BIOS (via usb)
- RGB is pretty much useless since it's very limited and it's hidden by the GPU
- I had to specify my ram speed (3000mhz) manually because it was quite low by default
- Gaming carbon wifi looks nicer (more rgb!) imho and has 2 nvme heatsinks
- Connecting my bose headphones via bluetooth gave me issues, I ended up disabling wifi in the bios and messing with Windows Device Manager until bluetooth worked. I ended up using a usb dongle for bluetooth instead of the motherboard.
- Cannot link with iCue while Asus motherboards can
- Finally, when my monitor goes to sleep, my msi gaming trio gpu led strip turns off (which was not happening on my intel build). Sounds like something that could be configured in the bios. I searched but found no solution. EDIT : this was apparently fixed by a driver update from nvidia BUT I still can't control that setting apparently. Update : not fixed, I rebooted and the problem reappeared.

Pros
- Great VRMs (S tier on LTT list)
- Included Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5
- Great value
- USB C header
Cons
- Lack of USB ports
- RGB is only on the PCH
- Sometimes half my CPU cores run at 571Mhz and my NVME would not be detected
- Terrible MSI customer service
Overall this board is a great buy when it works, but super frustrating when it doesn't

the thing I found a bit disappointing however is the fact that it didnt boot initially with my 5900X, I had to flash the bios without the CPU and RAM to a more recent one so it would work with my CPU.
It's been a long time since this board and the Ryzen 5000 series came out, I think MSI should make a little effort to ship boards with a more recent BIOS.

I ended up returning it, not because of the rgb, but because the USB wasn't working properly. The drivers had been updated but they kept connecting and disconnecting randomly. I couldn't resolve the issue.
