With the upcoming demise of Windows 7, I decided to upgrade 3 older homebuilt desktop PC's to Windows 10. Everything went well, except the on-board video hardware on all of them was rather dated and only generic drivers were available for Win 10. I got a viewable screen, but the AMD scaling / overscan feature no longer worked to make the image fit the monitor.

I checked around for affordable graphics cards and found these. According the reviews and even the manufacturer's web site (which has since been updated), it only supported Win 8.1 and DirectX 11. I went to the AMD site and found the chipset drivers are still getting updates. They support Windows 10 and DirectX 12 just fine.

Long story short: Three machines fully upgraded, working fine and stable. If you're looking for a fire breathing gaming rig, keep looking. If you're just surfing the 'Net, watching DVD and Blu-Ray movies, a little photo editing and you don't want to part with a lot of cash, this board will do the job.

The board is low power (35 watts) and should not over-tax an old or small power supply. It does have a fan but it's quiet. You will need an open PCI Express X16 slot; it works fine on PCI-E 2.0. It has HDMI, DVI-D and old-school VGA connectors. You can use any 2 at the same time, but not all 3.

Great upgrade for LG Ultrawide Monitor 2560 x 1080 display

I just bought an LG Ultrawide monitor vs buying two monitors for my work applications. The graphics card (AMD Firepro) installed in my machine did not have the capability to take full advantage of the display potential of the new monitor, so I though I would upgrade the video card. All I can say is WOW! This card was easy to install. I downloaded the Radeon Software Adrenaline 2019 prior to install and plugged this card into my machine. I ran the Adrenaline software and boom, done! The display is so much clearer I wish I had done this sooner. I can view split screen on my machine and have data in one window easily viewable while I process or copy it to a spreadsheet in another window. No need to swap windows back and forth, or view the data on my phone. FWIW, I ran Passmark on my machine before and after the upgrade and my Passmark score doubled. My old card would not even complete the 3D rendering tests, whereas this new card did a decent job on them. I'm not a gamer, but I don't think that this card will turn your old machine into a gaming machine as 3D framerates were in the 30's (my CPU is a Zeon w/ 12 GB RAM). But if you want to take full advantage of an ultrawide display 2560 x 1080 this card will work great for you. YouTube and 1080p videos through Plex look great with no pixilation or stuttering, and scrolling down through web pages is much smoother and easier to read. This is a very cost effective upgrade for an older machine, to take advantage of a new monitor. This graphics card runs cool in my machine (37C) and it is silent. It comes with a half height adapter.

This graphics card is a great card to buy for the price! You will not be displeased with its performance. Corresponds well with MSI afterburner/GPU-Z (highly recommend downloading them with this card). The MSI gaming app is another really great feature that usilizes tools for all gaming purposes. I would recommend this card to anyone wanting to do some mid-high level gaming at 60 fps or more. Drivers can be installed right from MSI support site.

Reason for 4 stars. I bought this card from a 3rd party seller whos price was too good to pass up. Reputation was great and everything looked promising. The description said "like new barely used with no signs of wear." WELL...that was a lie. When I received the card it came in all of its original packaging and from first glance it did indeed look brand new. Upon further inspection, I found that one of the fan blades had been completely broke off. Now, for me, this isnt a deal breaker and it does NOT effect performance, but a misleading description is always frustrating. Thats the only reason for 4 stars.

Overall, if youre running AMD chipset MOBO's/ CPU's, Radeon works so well with each of them. If you dont want to spend over 200 on a card that you probably wont push to its true potential with high performance gaming, this is the card for you!

So far so good. I upgraded to this R7 370 4g card to replace an aging Radeon 3870 HD in my Dell XPS 420. It is a pretty significant upgrade from what I had before. I did not really need to replace my 435w power supply with this card since the power draw was within 5w of my old card, but I went ahead and swapped out the old Dell 435w psu to a new Sentey 750w psu just to be safe. This card is extremely quiet and runs cool. Benchmarks are right where they should be based on what I've seen in online reviews. Mine is actually fast even though my motherboard only supports PCIe 2.0. So far my only gripe is that I can't watch any videos above 1080p without slow down and skipped frame rates in YouTube. I don't believe this is the fault of the card though so much as it is my aging motherboard that can't keep up. 1080p plays fine for both games and videos so I think it's just my old computer. If you have a faster newer computer, you results will no doubt be better than mine. My processor is a Core 2 quad 6700 with 8gig DDR2 800mhz ram. I bought this card mostly to beef up my old computer to get it ready for Windows 10 which I installed already. This card uses the AMD catalyst software so you can go directly to AMD's site and get the latest and greatest drivers. Windows 10 reached out and did the upgrade to the Windows 10 version of Catalyst automatically during the upgrade process so I didn't have to mess with it. So far the card works perfectly with no noted issues in Windows 10 so for those of you wondering if this card will work correctly out of the box in Windows 10, I can say YES you will have no worries.
