This is a great product than an expensive automatic thrower. If you can throw a frisbee you can figure this out. Don't criticize it if you can't get it right. Word of advice, before your first use, take a clay and leave it stored in the fitting so it will stretch some. I first used mine when it was cold out and we broke several trying to place them in the thrower. Directions say that using in weather under 45 degrees will make it difficult to use. Stretch it out by hand and keep it warm if you plan on being outside on a colder day. Once you get the hang of it then it throws extremely well.

I just ordered a replacement for my original MTM Target Thrower. The first one was approximately 15 years old and was used to throw 15,000+ clay targets. I know that sounds like a lot of targets but that is a conservative number! In earlier years I was using 800-1,000 birds per year. In the past two years, now that my sons are shooting too, I bought 40 cases of 135 birds each. We reload .410, 28 and 20 gauge shells so that holds the cost down...

The original thrower's plastic was fatigued after all that use and was not holding the birds well. The new thrower performs just as well as the original thrower’s performance when it was new.

You may ask why I use a hand thrower when we shot that kind of volume... The primary reason is that we are upland bird hunters and for practice we can easily vary how and where the birds are thrown. Secondly it provides exercise which is nice on a cold day. Amusingly enough, we do this shooting on a club range that has an electric trap! However, the shots from the electric trap, even with the wobbler, are so repetitive it isn't as much fun as the hand thrower... that and the battery always seems to be dead!

My primary adult hunting buddy also uses an MTM Target Thrower. We both tried other brands to see how they performed and to see if they offered us shot opportunities that the MTM couldn’t. The MTM still gets used... I gave the others away. For the typical user I think the risk of misplacing it outweighs the risk of wearing it out. If I ever wear this one out I’d buy another! Great product...

Breaks clay too easily

Almost impossible to load a clay without pinching your fingers or cracking the pigeon. When you do manage to get one loaded successfully half the time they shatter when thrown. I recommend to the manufacturer to loosen the clamp force.

This is a little wonder !
No need to drag the trap out just for a dozen clays or whatever .
As long as you have access to a half-way co-ordinated helper and it is surprising who is not, then everything is A1.
Clays fly well , much further than I would have thought and if your helper feels like it then all sorts of flights and angles are possible.

I did have to flex the arms a wee bit at first as when over tight it is easy to break the odd clay getting it into the jaws but after that , no problem.
