I've been building and repairing electronic devices for 50 years. I've used a lot of solders and this is my favorite. First the solder is based on lead and it has more than enough rosin flux. Lead melts at low temperatures and a job properly soldered with lead based solder will last for well over a 100 years. Lead has good environmental resistance and under vibration it will resist fracturing. Tin based solders (lead free) just will not hold up as well.

This solder is perfect to use with small electronics. It melts fast and leaves a quality shine. I remember when I first started soldering, I didn't have the correct thickness of solder and metal ratios, so I never got a proper solder joint. But with the Multicore Solder it is a breeze soldering electronics. I would recommend this to anyone, especially beginners because of its easy application.

I originally bought this solder because it's small size would help me minimize the amount of excess solder for my application. It did that and additionally, I found it created a strong joint.

I am making model railroad switches using pc board ties, and there is one joint that needs extra strength. because of it's small cross section, and I found the Loctite solder did better than Forney 38116 Silver Solder Kit with Self Fluxing Silver, 6-Percent.

Repaired my first motherboard with this. Small soldering jobs are possible with this multicore.

The picture on this item is not accurate. What I received is not Multicore brand, but is Loctite, both made by Henkel. The solder is 0.5mm. The reel has an extra sticker that says it is part number 3096525-M, and additionally the original reel label says "309 60EN 5C 0.5MM R" on it. I can't find any matching product on the Henkel website with any of these numbers to try to find the specifications. From searching on the net it does appear alloy 60EN is 60/40 Tin/Lead. Inspection under the microscope does show 5 cores in the solder.

Heard about from EEVLOG. Absolutely on point.

This is the good stuff. Quite a bit larger diameter than I'm used to but still far thinner than the junk that comes free with soldering iron kits. Great size for thru hole and connectors. I prefer slightly thinner for surface mount.
