Overall though, even with the modulation being questionable, this pedal I believe if isn't true bypasss, it fools me, I tested with and without being plugged in to the pedal and straight to my amp, and I never heard any differences in my original signal with the pedal off. Also, if you dial back the "mix" to about 9'oclock, you can use it in front of an amp with high gain and it acts like a "tape echo", it's pretty cool that it is pliable to your guitars gain, and still sounds good. That said I think after 9 o'clock, the pedal may start to filter in gain that increases the pedals signal, and if your playing straight into an amp this will "fight" your preamps gain, so if you have that issue you can just turn down the mix knob and it will sit very well in the mix.
You can go full Pink Floyd space cadet with this, especially with the "mod" switch that creates weird pipe organ warbles. However, I usually turn it way down and blend in the wet/dry signals (nice feature!) for a subtle texturing effect for both electric and acoustic. It adds depth. It sits somewhere between a reverb and tremolo, but has a nice character all of its own that is neither of the above.
The "feel" of this pedal is also really hard to describe, but nice. The analog guts really shine through. I would describe it as "natural" and "analog" in feeling, rather than "harsh" and "digital".
Build quality appears to be excellent, better than some other MXR pedals I've owned (e.g. the 10-band E.Q.).
The price, at $150, is about right. If you can pick one up used for $100 that's a strong "buy".
I would give this six stars If the AC outlet was on the top instead of the side.
The only "negative" thing I can say about the pedal is that I don't understand (or care for) the power input being on the right side of the pedal very close to the input jack. I find that a bit annoying but certainly not a deal breaker.

fully satisfied with it , it has always sounded little unnatural probably due to it being a digital version of delay . This sounds amazing , its a little
more expensive than some of other makes of delay but if you have the budget to pay a little more ( £30-£40 ) more then treat yourself , you wont regret it . The delay sounds so sweet and natural and truly enhances and compliments whatever you are playing whether chords or solos . It comes
in a tough compact casing to deal with the rough and the tough of giging if you are in a band . Another masterpiece from MXR .
EHX Memory boy/toy - too complicated for a gig situation, a crowd doesn't want to see someone fiddling with knobs ;-)
Boss DD series - they're good, but do I want a pedal board that looks and sounds like everyone else
There's some expensive/better ones out there, but as a fan of analogue I'm very chuffed with what this little green machine can do.
