I think it could have been experienced a bit more by the readers than told so much to them. I appreciated the subject matter and am thrilled to see someone tackle such a hard topic as leaving cults and coming back to church as well as male dominance.
This one deals with cult domination & false teaching. Mac was taught that men were lords & that women were property. Yet she had the same longings every human has. Srock does an awesome job describing the confusion, anguish & hope in moving from false teaching to being the human we are designed to be.
A great read & I will finish the series. Her series that begins with Calli is also great.
By: Sharon Srock
A brand new series from Sharon comes to us the story of Mackenzie. And what a powerful story she delivers to us. Mac was born and raised into a religious cult in New York and broke free from that cult with her son and mother at her young age of 34. Sharon delivers a powerful testimony in Mac’s story. One that will bring tears to your heart, one that will make you shiver the whole read through. How does one set herself free from a cult and begin to know the love and grace of the one true God? It takes friends, family and a community in Garfield, OK. We get a glimpse of the Women of Valley View, another series Sharon has written, and their families along with Mac’s story but get to know another set of women who has bonded together to become lifelong friends. Then they meet Mac and their world changes. There is so much power, drama, testimony, wholesome family values in this story that Sharon has left me wanting more. And she will deliver that to us as God has given her the words to create stories of these beautiful women and all they go through in their lives. I look so forward to the remaining stories of this set. Mac’s story is one you don’t want to miss out on. She will give you strength and courage to help you through a difficult situation in your life. Mac is special and the community of Garfield, OK not only helps her but learns so much from her along the way. Get your copy today and Happy Reading! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. The review is my honest opinion.
I found this book hard to put down. I only saw two minor errors - “wandered” for “wondered” and “pace” for “place.” The brief ending also came way too abruptly. When a reader devotes time to read their book, I think an author should reward them with an outstanding, satisfying ending they can savor. Regardless, however, this was a page-turner.
