Ok, it is hard to live up to George C. Scott in "Patton", but this is a worthy effort by one of my favorite actors from the past, Gregory Peck. I feel that the storyline is closer to fact than some parts of "Patton" were, as they, including Francis Ford Coppola, were a bit inventive in that movie, to say the least. MacArthur brings out the complexity and hypocrisy in this flawed, but very talented commander, who ultimately was a much more important person in the US Army before, during and after WWII. He was arguably the most powerful US military leader ever. An enjoyable film.

Why he received a Congressional Medal of Honor when a courtsmartial might have been more appropriate is open to question. The movie presents a pretty good picture of his shortcomings and areas of competence.

I bought this for my collection. It is a classic and you have to admire people of courage and integrity because we have so few of his caliber.

Great movie about one of our great military figures in our history. unfortunately, not on the same level as Patton. Peck deserved an oscar for this role.

Good take on the American Czar. Good performance by a seasoned actor. Historical value.
