Laura, Gwen and Julia are unsuspecting busy professional women. Laura, a lawyer, Gwen an ER Dr., and Julia a businesswoman who buys and rehabs properties in Boston. The three of them are cousins and share a house together in Boston. Each gal is quite different in personality but they get along well with each other. Each love story is equally different. The lesson learned that love often happens quite unexpectedly is not a surprise but nevertheless an eye opener each time the story is told. Grandpa Macgregor really knows what he's doing....much to the shock of some unsuspecting busy singles.
I had been reading the latest "Bride series" from Nora Roberts, The Bride Quartet series, and wanted more romance and wedding stories. I found this series from the 1990's and liked the first installment, "The Macgregor Brides", enough to order the next one "The Macgregor Grooms". Sometimes a girl just have to have a little romance!
I really enjoy Nora Roberts MacGregor series, These books are the closest thing to just a pure romance story that Nora has written, there is often quite a bit of humor in the stories and you get drawn in, even knowing that the characters are going to have a Happy Ever After, it is still a good ride.

Daniel MacGregor is determined to find the perfect partner for them and marry then off - the girls are wise to his tricks and are equally determined to be manipulated. The book is interspersed with extracts from the private memoirs of Daniel MacGregor. The story is lively and easy to read and its nice to read about earlier characters. Probable ideal for post christmas celebrations. I did however feel that I never really got to know the girls and their grooms. It did seem very rushed somehow with not enough depth.
