A good, almost great, hands-free mount.
This is the second Macally phone mount I purchased. The first was a 12" arm tablet mount, which like this, performed well, but not quite perfectly.Whether you can securely tighten the base to your cup holder depends on the design of your cup holder. I was able to tighten it securely enough in my F-150, even though it has spring-loaded wings inside that keep cups secure. Take your time to confirm the flexible arm to how and where you want your device accessible to you.The major issue is one of physics more so than design. The longer the arm, the more prone it is to vibration when driving. You will be best served by buying the shortest arm you need to position the phone where you need it. A 4" arm is a little too short for me (not enough length for the proper bends/angle), and an 8" arm is a little too long (too much length for the proper bends/angle). 6" would have been perfect (insert Michael Scott joke here), but Macally does not make that size. So, because I had to bend the arm out, then back in, to "use up slack", it is a little more prone to vibration, and distance traveled laterally when vibrating, than a smaller arm would have been.All in all, however, this is an inexpensive yet effective solution of where to put your phone when driving. If you want a design that does not vibrate, look into vent mounts. However, they have their own issues, such as stress on the vent structure and, if you live in a warmer climate, blocking air flow. Everything in life is a trade-off.

I needed a smaller cell holder for my mini cooper. This fits that perfectly. I think it is a great product. It would work great in any car. I was a little worried about the strength of the "stem", if it would stay up, it does. You are able to bend it pretty much any way you want. You can make it shorter, buy twisting it. Good product.

Love this product that keeps my phone's gps in sight. I am a rideshare driver, and need the app and maps visible and within reach but without distraction as I drive.
Bought one from a local Radio Shack; a suction cup model, and took it back same day - it was so flimsy and would not work on my windshield. It had no cupholder option.
This one firmly holds my phone - it relies on a internal winch pressure. It has an adjustment to fit snugly in my cup holder, but is easy to remove.
Device can be displayed vertically or horizontally with a few clicks of the ratchet.
This is a well designed and well made product.
Note that the movements are stiff - it takes a firm grip to close the two arms around the phone, and I was afraid of breaking it at first, but read other reviews and saw a video of it being set up that said to have no fear bending and adjusting.
The "stiffness" in the adjustments actually results in a very firm hold - this won't fall, and won't bounce around once set up.
Tip: rotate it to a horizontal position to more easily close the grips if you have small, older hands (as I do).
Holds my boyfriend's larger LG note, and my Galaxy 7 easily. I still can adjust its position once the phone is in its arms; the longer arm will move back and forth with pressure, and the phone face tilt to read.
The phone easily comes off in its arms to use for texting (while parked: safety first!). The bottom is completely open, so the phone's charge port is not obstructed.
It expands to fit my cupholder with or without the cupholder's insert.
Foam gripper arms are gentle on the phone; it won't depress your on-off side switches while in the holder.
It's a great value for the product; glad I found it.

This cell phone mount was ordered to fit in the drink cup holder in a Mini Cooper. The cell phone fits securely, the gooseneck holder is a little stiff but should get easier to adjust with time. I particularly like the quick release button to remove the phone when required.
However, I was a little disappointed with the part which is inserted into the drink cup holder. The four "fingers" which expand to grip the sides of the holder are plastic which proved to be too slippery to fasten securely, even when tightened as hard as possible. They should be a little longer to reach further into the cup holder, thus increasing the grip surface, and should also be faced with rubber for additional friction. I was almost to the point of returning this phone mount until I found that foam mounting tape - the white foam tape commonly to mount pictures - could be applied to the gripping "fingers" to increase mounting stability.
I was finally able to mount the phone mount with applying this tape. If you use the tape, just cover the gripping fingers, which must be able to move. Time will tell if this fixes the mounting problem long term.
UPDATE 1/27:
After contacting the seller, I received the exact mount pictured in the original ad, along with - Surprise! Four rubber mounting pads to apply to the mounting "fingers" to increase adhesion in the cup holder. Kudos to the seller for a quick, effective response which solved my mounting problem.

I am so glad I've found a reliable way to hold my larger iPhone 7 Plus while driving! This mount has a solid design with the right adjustments! It fits perfectly in my BMW 528 cupholder (2015 model for any readers with the same car and wondering). After installing and testing it out, I've immediately ordered one for our other vehicle. I disagree with other feedback that the flippers on the bottom are a problem. They are easy to flip out or put away and you can use either one or both and simply leave them out. Then all you need to do is hit one button to release the side grips or squeeze them together to grab your phone on next use. THE SURPRISE FEATURE to me was the diameter adjustability of the cup holder base. At first try, it was a bit too loose in my cup holder. I somehow had missed this great feature in the ad and didn't bother with the tiny instruction booklet at first. It was there I discovered the adjustment know to expand/contract the diameter. It can be done in advance but can also be used to tighten the fit once in place. I love this product!

Werkt goed, als het werkt. Inmiddels na 3 - 4 maanden (echt weinig gebruikt) is het kapot.
Bij uitdraaien en inklemmen in bekerhouder knapte de bodem los van de houder. Klemt niet meer en alles beweegt los van het deel dat in de bekerhouder moet.

Waarom is het punt dat alle kracht moet verwerken zo'n slap stuk plastic?
