Good Results

It works well, just as advertised. There is some loss of quality due to the inevitable fact that it contains a little FM transmitter and therefore the modulation and demodulation process does introduce some small distortion but no more than one would expect from an FM station on the air. The built-in USB connector is handy for keeping the phone charged while driving. You should set it a frequency that is not used by a local station for best results. I like it better than the cassette interfaces, since they use a little electromagnet to transmit to the receiver cassette tape head and then inverse equalization to return the audio to flat on the playback.

Background: I'm new to this iPod / MP3 player thing. I wanted to get my feet wet, so I recently bought a certified refurbished iPod Shuffle - 1st Generation for around $33 at the Apple Store. I'm so far happy with the Shuffle knowing it's limitations.

Reason for the ICEFM purchase: is primarily based on price. After reading reviews for other FM transmitters, the more expensive it is, the less likely there would be static. I really didn't want to spend that much especially since I have an original AM/FM CD player in my '96 Blazer. I'm sure with the best transmitter, there will be static in my car. I could have held off waiting for the nicer Kensington model (with full FM range and better quality sound) to go on sale and be closer to my price range, but I opted not to wait and bought the ICEFEM.

Review of the ICEFM: The setup was very easy. Click in the shuffle to the ICEFM, plug in the audio cable and place in cigarette lighter. Then tune my radio dial to one of the desired 4 presets. Bingo, I was in business. There IS background noise when there is "silence" or there is a low part in the song, but you don't notice it while the song is playing. In addition, when I turn the volume knob on my radio, it makes more static noise. The one odd thing is due to the way my car's cigarette lighter is situated. The Shuffle sticks out from the ICEFM and I have to maneuver the ICEFM so the Shuffle doesn't bang up against the dashboard.

Overall, it does what it is suppose to do, especially if your expectation is not perfection.

Works Very Well At This Price Point!

This is a great choice to hook your smart phone to your older audio system without breaking the bank. I have tried others in the past and ended up returning them as they had to much static and noise, this one works really well and also beats the hard wired modulators (at least the one I hooked up - it stunk, lots of clicks & pops). Again for the $ this works well especially for podcasts where top quality audio isnt as crucial as music (though I have enjoyed music with this as well).

I have bought 4 of these over the years. Initially, I bought one for myself, to play my iPod music over the radio in the car. My daughter claimed that one for herself after she rode with me and heard firsthand the sound quality and lack of static. So I bought another one for myself. That one was claimed by my techno-savy son for use with his iPod in his car. So I bought ANOTHER one for myself and, sure enough, my nephew asked me if he could "borrow" it to try it out. So I just gave it to him and bought yet ANOTHER transmitter, which I've managed to keep in my car for my own use. All four of us use our transmitters a lot and no one has had any complaints. Highly recommend it!

I have had the same ipod for about 7 years. I never bothered to upgrade b/c I rarely used it. I couldn't find an FM transmitter that worked in my car in Houston. I think the radio stations in Houston are to overpopulated that there wasn't enough room in the frequencies to get a good signal. Luckily, I finally found & ordered this one. MAGIC! It works great. It easily connects to the right station & gets my ipod signal. The sound is strong & clear. Unlike others, if I unplug my ipod, I don't get screeching on the radio; I get silence. I also like that when I unplug it from the power adapter, the ipod goes into pause, so my music isn't playing without me.

As others have noted, I cannot charge and play my ipod at the same time through this, BUT I have found that I can play my ipod AND charge my phone at the same time. A great little tool. I may need to now upgrade my ipod since I can now use it in the car.

I have an iPod Touch 4.

I have bought the real expensive FM Transmitters and I have bought the real cheap ones, so after reading the product review for this particular one at $12 I was hesitant to buy this item. I will say that I am VERY happy I bought it. It's small and compact, so it's not taking up too much space. This one doesn't scan radio stations and it only has like 4 pre-selected FM stations it will run on. I used the first station and the music on my iPod came through clear and static FREE! I like too that it has a setting where you can charge the iPod without using a station. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of this product. I have a decent factory stereo system in my car, but I don't think that's why this FM Transmitter worked so well, because I have used the expensive digital brand and I got a lot of static, not the case with this one. I would definitely recommend this particular FM Transmitter for anyone wanting to use their iPod in the car. And for the money it is more than worth $12. You will not be disappointed!!!!

I opted to order this particular transmitter due to all the rave reviews. I can say that I now appreciate those reviewers who take the time to update their reviews six months or one year after purchase. I could have purchased a less expensive transmitter for around $5 but I was willing to pay more for an outstanding product. The product performed perfectly from the time I received it the 1st of August 2013 until today, October 3, 2013. Suddenly nothing would play through it. I kept trying to switch outlets in my car, switched music devices, but no music would transmit via the unit. I then noticed the light on top, which has always been green when in use, was now yellow. I assume this is the confirmation that the unit is not working. Since it is past the return merchandise date, I am basically out the $22 I paid and will have to again purchase a transmitter. But I will NOT be buying this one again.
