2.5 ☆'s rounded up to three (just barely) because I like the author's writing style in the last half of the book, and felt like I kind of got to know one of the other characters. (Noah.)

This is an entire book about women fighting over men. The MC has one true female friend but every other woman in the story dislikes each other to some extent because they either dated someone in common or because they want one of the two men in love with the MC. Everyone has dated everyone else, which seems kind of weird, especially because they're all still interacting so much. Like everyone is trapped in high school. Can no one find another restaurant? Or bakery?

This is my first book by the author, free on kindle, and they should be read in order. Too many characters with too much backstory, once again, all about who has dated whom. We learn there have been 9 murders in the 9 months before this with few details. There's a murder in this one, with a clumsy investigation. The murder plot wasn't at all interesting until the last few pages, when a different crime takes place, setting up the next book. I'm mildly curious but not enough to read another one of these books.

Overall a cute writing style and some funny dialogue near the end of the book but I couldn't get past the way women talked about and treated each other. Won't be reading any more in this series.

Once Everett and Noah realize there is a risk to Lottie as well as Everett, Noah and Everett make Lottie carry a gun. There was a big revelation at the end that changes Lottie's life forever!
