Quietly makes a bunch of ice quickly

The ice maker at work is not working well, and no one changes the refrigerator filter. As such, I really wanted to try a portable ice maker. The requirements were that its small enough to fit a cube at work, and operates quietly, without a need for a hardwire to a water source. This is when I came across this ice maker on Amazon for under $200 shipped. Its less than 15" deep/tall and about 11" wide. Its super easy to use. You pour up to 2.2 liters of water in the opening up top, then turn it on. Thats it. It starts making multiple batches of ice from that! It has automatic sensors to tell you when the basket is full before dumping more ice. It'll also tell you when its out of water and auto shut off. If you need to store this, or just get all of the excess water out, there is a convenient opening on the back for you to quickly drain the water. Check out my video demo of this. I'm really pleased with how quickly it makes ice cubes, and how quietly it operates. I'm pretty sure this will not bother folks near my cube. Its small enough to take anywhere. Best of all, I'll never have to go buy bagged ice for my cooler.

I’ve been looking for an icemaker for our home bar area at Costco but they were small and only made enough ice for 2-4 drinks. I was looking for something a little larger and higher capacity.
This icemaker is about twice the size as the others. First off, it is heavy, well made not plastic feeling. This icemaker is quiet as well.
It makes ice quickly, fills the ice basket then shuts off automatically. Any ice that melts, the water goes back into the system, no drain is needed. It is also easy to fill and holds almost a gallon of water. I am using bottled water, the ice is clear and tasty, Unlike refrigerator made ice.
I highly recommend this icemaker.

Portable and fast (great for camping)

I am an avid hiker, camper, and wilderness backpacker, and living in sunny California also means that we get hit a lot by sometimes unbearable heat. Recently, I have purchased several, portable battery power stations to power fans to cool down our camp site. Next, I wanted to find an ice maker to use with those batteries, especially if the use time can be extended through the use of a solar panel. As an additional bonus, being able to make ice on-the-fly, I wanted to introduce some fun activities for the children, like making ice cream!

PROS
- Fairly portable
- Inexpensive at $170
- Makes ice VERY quickly (first cubes came out in 14 mins while testing at home)
- Can store up to 40 lbs of ice. However, uses 2.6A to do so (about 299W)
- Only uses 1.6A to make ice. This translates to 184W
- Can be used with my 300W and 500W battery power stations (ie. nrgGo, Suaoki, Rockpals, Goal Zero, Jackery)
- Excellent for use at parties or (in my case) at a camp site
- Looks nice and professional
- Material feels nice and solid
- Melted ice cubes are recycled for further ice making
- Easy to use

CONS
- Can be considered pricey for some, especially if a bag of ice could be bought from stores and kept cold for a day or two using an insulated cooler

TIPS
- If you are going to use this ice maker with a portable battery power station, make sure it can deliver a continuous 300W and with a high enough peak wattage for the initial power-on. In my case, I was able to power the ice maker for 1.5 hours before my 500W battery was drained, but this can be prolonged through the use of a high-capacity solar panel or daisy-chaining of power stations (such as those enabled by some models of Goal Zero).

Overall, I was quite happy with this ice maker. It produced ice fairly quickly and could be powered by my battery power stations. It might be overkill to bring such a large, expensive device out camping, but when used with a solar panel, it is nice being able to generate ice whenever needed.

Our ice maker in our fridge broke and we were quoted $800+ for the repair. It is still new enough that I can't justify replacing the fridge or paying that much for the repair simply for an ice maker. Even when the ice maker did work it was constantly jamming up and never really made enough ice anyways. Decided to give this a try to solve both issues. When the unit arrived we followed the instructions which requires allowing it to sit for 1-2 hours to allow the coolant to settle and so the unit can get to ambient temperature. Unfortunately, something ended up being wrong with the unit. It would run but never made any ice. Contacted the seller and they immediately sent a replacement. The second one works just fine and makes quite a bit of ice in a pretty short amount of time. The process is kinda fascinating because it doesn't use a flat ice tray. It runs water over a vertical tray until it eventually freezes into cubes. The ice it makes is pretty wet so after I put the bin in my freezer it kinda froze together. A small amount of influence with a butter knife and it was just fine though. I'm confident this will cure both of our issues for 1/4 of the repair price. I can't comment on longevity since we've only had the unit for a few days but I will update my review if it fails early.

Ordered this unit based upon the reviews. Received the unit 11/27/2019. Followed the instructions and plug in the unit. I live in Florida where the ambient temp. is 80F. The ambient temp. on the icemaker read 84F the house temp was 77F. Started the unit and the ambient temp. went up as the unit was running. Waited about 20 min. and no ice was being made in the cubes. Ready to exchange this unit because of the ambient temp. not being within the specified range (no higher than 86F). The unit reads the warm air when unit is running. Let the unit run about 45min. PERFECT ICE. Be patient and it makes perfect CLEAR ICE.
