I got it because of the low price. The pad does have large areas to step, but they compensated the large pads to a very (and I do mean very) small center. I have a size 12 foot so my feet step on the other arrows when I stand in the center. If you have small feet or are a kid, this may work for you. But if you're an adult. look for another pad.

The madcatz dance pad is not a very good product. The buttons are small and too close together, and the design is just horrible. What was Madcatz thinking?
The response on the pad is ok, about what you'd expect from 3rd party products, but there are better 3rd party products out there. The buttons don't register sometimes and you'll find that they get stuck after playing for a while.
All in all, this pad isn't really worth the price and you're much better off sticking with dance pads made by Konami and RedOctane.

We thought the game in the arcade looked like fun but didn't want to try there so we bought it for home. The game itself is really fun eventhough it takes a little while to learn where to step, but this particular pad is horrable. We had 2 of them and they didn't work 3 weeks later eventhough we didn't play them all the time. The down and left arrows wouldn't register. Just buy a different brand and makesure that it's the non-slip kind.

The Mad Catz dance mat is a solid product and a good and inexpensive alternative to the official Konami dance mat. The buttons are clearly labeled and the mat fits feet up to size 11. (Anything bigger you might trigger a button accidentally.) It's easy to install. I've used mine heavily for about a month now and it's still like new.

Well, it works ok...and it's cheap, but it is a heck of a lot bigger than the arcade controller (the arrows are much farther apart), so when you go to the arcade you may end up stepping on someone's feet multiple times (like me). Also I am 5'4'' and I have some trouble keeping my balance because the buttons are too far apart. So I definitely wouldn't recommend it for little kids. I swear my coordination isn't that bad. Really. Also there is no anti-skid material on the bottom, so it does slip on carpeting and you kind of have to move it every song. I'm not brave enough to try it on a wood floor.

If you are looking for a good dance mat, may this be the only review you read. I got this pad for my birthday and Dance Dance Revolution Konamix for the PS. This isn't the exact pad I received, but by the same manufacturer. This pad is very good for beginners, just as I was. As I got better, the pad started to slip. For example, the pad would be in one position in the beginning of a song, and at the end it would have slid about like six to twelve inches. It sometimes is annoying.
I've had this pad for about six months now and it hasn't ripped, yet. I have one tip: once you take the pad out of the box and unfold it, don't fold it up again! The sensors inside move and wrinkle. Either hang it from somewhere or let it sit on the floor.
Final word: This is a good pad for the price. If you want a real heavy-duty pad that will last for a very long time, buy the more expensive ones. This pad is still good!
(P.S. I'm actually thirteen, but the age won't go up that high. ^^^)

Well, this certainly isn't the best purchase you could make. Soft mats generally tend to bunch up if you're really dancing hard on them, and this one is no exception. It doesn't pick up all of the steps you make, so you end up with a mediocre score. Of course, it can be modded to work better: just attach it to a large piece of plywood and it should work okay, but this mat is just not for those of us who intend to be *really* good at DDR. Good for beginners and occasional players, not for people who play in the arcades.

I ordered 2 of the dance mats for my 4 children...I was very excited as they were to be Christmas presents. My children had played DDR at a friends and absolutely loved it. When they opened their game and mats on Christmas morning...they of course wanted to play it immediately. However, we could not get the mats to work with our DDR game on the Playstation2. Our friends had the DDR dance mat and it works great....
