I wasn't paid or given anything for this review. That being said I'd like to start out by addressing the issue of the mouse moving on its own. Mine did it and still does do it. I can make it stop simply by ensuring there's absolutely NO vibrations on my desk. The mouses laser is very sensitive and if your computer sits on or has contact with your desk and your mouse will probably move as well. Now some people this maybe a deal breaker because they don't have anywhere else to put their tower.
Since owning this mouse (received it Oct 2nd 2015) I have had no issues with it. I have a big hand (I'm 6'3 255lbs) I also have a heavy hand so I'll catch myself accidentally hitting the right button. Not a problem because again this thing is super sensitive and I knew this purchasing it. If you love playing call of duty or other games where every second counts then I highly suggest this mouse. It's response times are incredible. I love the weight and the feel of the mouse as well. Being able to adjust the length and weight of this baby is truly a God send. Especially when my daughter wants to play on my computer and her hand is much smaller and doesn't require a heavy mouse. I love the look and feel as well. Smooth moving and you feel every click so your not left wondering if you hit the button 3 times or 4. It's very responsive and I'd definitely recommend this mouse to anyone looking for a high end gaming mouse. Before this I used red dragons 10 key mouse (not sure of real name but it had the 10 buttons on the side) my nephew broke the left clicker by hitting it too hard (it had a uni-body design which I loved until it broke) I didn't want to give up my 10 buttons on the side however this mouse does have a few extra which I really didn't need all 10 and this mouse also allows 3 presets so I'm able to switch between profiles while in game play (it's on the top left next to your left clicker) all in all I love this mouse and it pains me to see such negative reviews) but amazon has the best return policy so I went for it and I'm so glad I did. I think you would be happy too if you gave it a try.
So why only 3 stars instead of 5?
The lifespan of this mouse is abysmal. I use it extremely regularly, both for work and for play. The button that will most likely break first is the left click, which has a horrible lifespan. As it starts to fail, you'll notice it click repeatedly when you only click once, which can get annoying fast because double clicking something you only want to single click creates unwanted effects. This will only get worse with time. But that's not the only part that will fail on this mouse, on one version the bottom sensor began to fail. Despite my attempts to clean both mouse and mousepad, that mouse eventually began unusable as it fails to properly register its movement, especially side to side motions.
I like this mouse so much that I kept buying it after each one would break. But now after a few years, I have a stockpile of these dead Rat 5 mice piled up in my closet, and enough is enough. I have FIVE of these dead mice (can prove with pics if requested), and I'm currently on my 6th and final reserve mouse. When this last one fails, I'm not buying more I'll be trying new brands and new mice. I'll miss this one a lot because it's so great, but it's lifespan is totally unacceptable for it's price. If I could buy them cheaper? I'd just buy a lifetime supply and just throw them out as each one inevitably fails in turn. But not at $75 a pop when they last a year or less of regular use.
Having contacted Mad Catz customer service in order to fix this (as it is under warranty for another 1.5 years), I have been met with constant delays and been all but completely ignored.
I would definitely never recommend this mouse to a friend and can certainly say, given this information now, I'm going to make sure the customer service is up to par. Hardware failures occur, but the complete negligence on part of Mad Catz has left a very bad taste in my mouth with their company.
