It's a quick, light read (cover to cover in a single evening for me) and Mr. Amooi doesn't dive into scene building, backstory, or fleshing out his characters any more than necessary, but that's not to say he's lazy or produces flat, formulaic fare. To the contrary, he's remarkably adept at keeping the spotlight focused on what he delivers best: Genuinely humorous situations and some of the best dialog I've read in any genre.
Some self-published books suffer from typos, bogs of tangential prose begging for an editor's hand, awkward dialog, and glaring continuity issues. None of that here. Mr. Amooi's writing style mirrors his storytelling skills: Clear, clean, and crisp. Nothing flowery or overwrought to muddy the flow. He knows how to keep a story moving and the reader engaged from beginning to end.
In short, this book is a no-brainer if you want a light, clean, well-paced read with lots of laughs. Sooner or later, Hallmark is going to find Rich Amooi and turn his books into movies. I hope they start here. This was my first Rich Amooi read, but I'm certain it won't be my last.
I would say that these are equivalent to hallmark movies, except the characters don't wait til the last page to kiss.
I really liked lance and his attitude, he and madam love had great chemistry.
If you've read any of his other books, you won't be disappointed. If you haven't I recommend getting one. If you're into sex scenes this may not be for you though.
