The characters are vivid. The story line is engaging. Never a dull moment! The author guides the reader through twists and turns, culminating in the pieces of the puzzle coming together in a way that you could never anticipate!
If you love a good mystery (and are tired of solving the mystery halfway through the book), this one is for you! I'm hoping for a sequel!
The protagonist, Cassie, had a bit of a reputation as a fun-seeking girl in her college days, but she had been living with her adored grandfather, Neede Brooklin, and she didn't have a care in the world. Those days are now gone after Cassie married "beneath herself" and her grandfather disinherited her, as he promised he would if the marriage took place. Neede passed away with no resolution between them and Cassie has fallen out of favor with her other family members, who can't believe their good fortune in being the ones to have inherited the Brooklin money instead of Cassie.
But someone wants Cassie dead and she is at a complete loss to understand this turn of events. A series of "accidents" and near-misses cause her great fear and angst, as she turns to the few people she can trust.
Each chapter ends with a lure that makes you want to keep reading...a real page-turner. I hope to read more from this author!
