If you've never owned a Madden game before in your life, then welcome to the world of console football--have a great time.

If you've owned a Madden game since the Xbox 360 debuted, then expect more of the same (or less?) in this iteration.

The Madden franchise keeps evolving, just not in a constructive way. Rather than adding meaningful features or improving the realism, the primary focus seems to be keeping the cash cow mooing. And not just by selling a new version at full price each year--instead, you can:

* Buy a Limited Edition Set with a Collectible cardboard insert! (+$20)
* Buy some Legendary players for a new pay-to-play mode! (+$7)
* Buy some coins for buying stuff in-game! (+$Limitless)
* Buy some more Legendary players! (+$7)
* Buy some EA Season Pass! (+$20?)
* Buy the right to play online if you rented the game! (+$10?)
* Buy some more Legendary players! (+$7)

So, it's no shock that the paradigm of EA games is bending toward building revenue after the initial purchase...we all know and expect that nowadays. But it seems like they're literally stripping more and more out of the game in order to make it an add-on that you have to buy. It's getting insulting and just plain silly...or perhaps just ridiculous.

A lot of the 'professional' reviewers go into the details of what has been neglected in Madden over the years, and I believe they're actually pretty generous with the provision of an average score of around 7/10. Or maybe I just have a bias since I'm feeling extra-insulted by the blatant mooing of the cash cow throughout the entire game.

I pre ordered the special edition being a huge Madden fan and slightly disliked the 2011 Madden I was rather looking forward to Madden 2012 and its so called improvements. I enjoy the game simply because as said before I am a huge Madden fan, but to pay as much as I did for the special edition was a mistake I cant take back, i would have rather waited for the price to go down. I feel as if the creators made it "newb" friendly online. I could intercepts balls with my eyes closed in this, running the ball is a joke of ease and you can pretty much pick between a few defenses and tear apart offenses. I have played close to 100 games online and just cant seem to keep my interest, and if you think a hundred games is alot, trust me, for as long as it has been out its not. Maybe I'm just lucky and get matched against people who are just not good, overall though I just wasnt satisfied with the game as a whole. Better luck next year.

No real big changes, so why go out and buy it EVERY year! I realized years ago that they are only interested in MONEY, which would be fine with me if they gave you something for your money! Now, it's about nickle and diming loyal customers to death instead of giving the customer their moneys worth!

Since the game engine is the same year after year after year.... just show a little self control and stay a year behind! In this way, you will only be paying $20 for updated rosters and minor presentation changes instead of $60! The game will still be new to you and you wont be rewarding EA for screwing you! In addition to basically selling you last years game for full price, they are now charging you extra for features that should be included in the first place! Why in the world would anyone even consider rewarding EA for their corrupt and greedy treatment of their loyal customer base and what makes anyone think that they wont continue to take advantage as long as we are willing victims?!

I have been playing video games since NES and had no problem shelling out $60 for games since the early 90's, but I will not reward EA or any company for laziness and greed. When they give me a sports game that's worth $60 I will gladly pay it like I always have. That means a truly new game with a new engine...not a 5 year old game with token changes and updated rosters. As long as they continue to do this, I will continue to buy 1 year behind as I do with ALL of their sports games! I just bought Madden 11 and for $17 brand new...I have no reason to complain no matter what I think! When they finally change the game engine and produce a truly new and better Madden or ANY GAME for that matter, I will be first in line with my $60 as I always have! If everyone did this, they would have no choice but to do what they should have been doing all along...giving their loyal customers their money's worth, instead of taking advantage of them!

My Son Wanted This Game So I Paid The INSANE Price For It. Only Reason My Rating Was a One. Simply Is ONLY Because Of EA! Its The Same Exact Game With Some BS Gimmicks. And They Convinced My Son Which In Turn Convinced Me. But Just Ridiculous EA!!!

The 2012 edition of Madden has enough features and tech in it that if you've been hanging onto a MUCH older version cause of your franchise, then well it's time to visit a new world with better graphics, slicker controls, and great audio commentary.

I like to play both the College game and the Madden game. I like college football better but I think the Madden game is more of a challenge. The fact that you have a draft instead of recruits makes it harder to make an elite team. There are less rediculous defensive plays on the Madden version to. Overall you get what you expect.
