Additionally, the new scouting mechanic is a lot of fun and adds a real-life risk to draft picks that previous incarnations did not have. You only can see the top 3 characteristics for player - everything else is a mystery until you see combine results in the offseason. It is hard to truly know exactly how good a player could be - which I find great and engaging unlike other games where you could figure out the system, making scouting and drafting a chore.
The final major change was with player experience. Most players don't get a ton of EXP in practice or even in games which makes drafting and free agency all the more important.
Otherwise, not a lot changed from prior incarnations. If you like the Madden Franchise, you know what you're getting.
They implement the same things every year with some sort of crazy catch animation or whatnot. This doesn't help gameplay evolve as it should, but that is something that is marginally better - albeit, still arcade-like.
CFM is the only mode worth my time as I choose to avoid the mess that is online vs. Other players that run the same five plays all game long.
CFM is nice in that they keep trying to make the draft fresh, bit it always leaves a stale taste as the news feed is buried in the last tile menu and the storyline of players and teams seems to take a back seat at most. I wish Tiburon would stop trying to reinvent things like CFM and keep or let parts of it evolve. Put in a growing radio show like back in 2005. Follow draft picks progress through seasons. Let us know if other teams want to hire our coach in the off season (of that actually happens in the first place).
Madden remains our only football choice and with that monopoly you should also take every review with a grain of salt. It's your only choice - so either play the new one or an old one... EA doesn't care as long as people keep buying it.
I would pass on this one
