I personally could not sustain the diet she herself follows at the suggestion of her nutritionist (No bread, pasta, rice, corn, potatoes, or sugar. Ever.). It would set me off on a crazed binge. Not that she suggests we follow her diet, but to ask God what He wants us to eat, and to follow that.
She has many, many nuggets of wisdom throughout the book that encourage me and convict me.
One thing I don't really like is her overuse of the phrase, "Jesus girl." It's ok the first time or two, but I don't think it's really necessary to keep saying it. It sounds like when someone talks about themselves in the third person. However, I don't think it takes away from the book's message; it's not so bad I would remove a star from my review.
I highlighted and underlined so many, many parts of this book.
The hardest part for me is putting it all into practice. I'm so set in my food ways, it's going to take a lot of painful surrender on my part to allow God into those places where I have made food my comforter and joy, you know?
This is not a diet book for the body, it's a diet book for the spirit. You can't just skim through it either. Every chapter has something that's going to pull at your heart that you're going just have to sit down and deal with it.
If you're on yet another effort to lose weight or just want to be released from the choke hold food seems to have one you, Made to Crave is an excellent book to help guide you closer to Jesus and his desire to see you succeed in your journey. Highly recommended.
